      how can I fly?

I just hav my first long time LD (1 our), when i remembered a place that apeared only in my dreams. The first
thing that i did - was trying to fly. I was in the air for a few seconds, but i lost control, and was atracted by walls and trees.
After that, I was in a city, trying to fly, but i was looking funny, and people smiled...How can I fly? It must sound naive...
      this is beyond experience

I have three tricks for you:
      1. Practise
      2. Practise
      3. Practise

It's so simple. Anyway, it's a good sign that you were in the air for a few seconds. I'm sure you will be in the air for a few seconds longer next time. I can't give you any special techniques as I never had trouble in flying, but I don't mean that it's unusual to have troubles with it. Actually many people have similar problems. There's also a couple of threads about flying in the Dream Control forum
Don't think about those damn kangaroos.

I have several solutions to this problem:

      1) Listen to the music from soaring over CA.
      2) Ignore the putzes in your dreams, or make them disappear (you have control, right?)
      3) Keep trying
      4) If all else fails, struggle while doing WILD, & you should have something like a FA. You will be able to fly, but not walk, & notice the sash tied around you. You must return to the start to awaken! This is what I call a sci-fi!

I have a suggestion for you; this is what I do.

Run towards an object about waist high (or higher), and jump over it. Just as you jump think of a bird of some kind and keep an image of it in your mind. Before you know it, you'll be flying.

You could just forget about the 'jumping over something' part. But just try and concentrate on a bird.

Sorry! almost forgot, about flying, why don't u try saying outloud in ur dream 'Fly' or 'I'm going 2 fly' or 'up, up and away!' u know, stuff like that. usually if it's weird or funny it works.
I can only fly in my dreams, or in a sci-fi dream. People always tell me that. I do that with everythin & everyone but myself, if that is okay!

You don't sound a moron or stupid at all to me, Nesgirl. More you sound like a perfectionist and have a bad self esteem because you don't reach your targets that you have set too high. Remember that 'perfect' is something we all aim at, but it's also something no-one can ever reach

You have the right to say whatever you like, but I see no reason for you to hate yourself. Honestly, I went through the same thing. It doesn't do any good. You need to realize that every decent person likes you because you're a good person. Stop hating yourself, please, because you're definitely a cool person.

the topic has been split. it's now in senseless banter under "jibberish."

if you don't have anything to say about flying in lucid dreams, kindly shut the hell up. if you want to keep feeding nesgirl's attention thirst then do it in senseless...

I'm on your side Nesgirl119. Keep up the positive thinking.
There are many ways to fly. It all stems from your belief system. If you believe you can do something you can. It may help to think of your self as lighter then air and simply start floating. I have read were you can fire rocket blast from your feet and go like a rocket. It works because I've done it. I had a helicopter that was imitating my maneuvering and I tried to lose it with a blast of jet power from my feet. The copper was fast and kept up with me. You don’t have to win the race, running it can be its true merit. Have fun P.S. I think floating is the easiest because of the tranquility that can occur.

      About flying ..
well i lean backwards and "flap" my arm and i go flying up . I also find it that you go were you look. so if you find urself going out of control look at something in the distance to stready urself out. ( sorry for bad grammar )

      Heres my technique.

      KNOW THAT YOU WILL FLY.

Say this outloud in your lucid dream

      "i am going to fly"

and believe it! Once you do, you will be floating in da air and blasting off to the sky!

Its really great once you do fly.

Well i just faced this prob lik 2 weeks ago my freinds who have Lucids told me to just get on a small building and just kinda act like your gonna jump in a swimming pool just push off a little and just think you cant fall and start moving and from then you have to practice and i tried like powering up like a cartoon and that worked..well you can give it a try.

If all else fails imagine a force underneath you pushing you up instead of trying to fly by your own power. That is much easier for you brain to accept.
