I became interested in lucid dreaming after watching the movie "Waking Life" and reading several FAQs including the one posted on lucidity.com. After about a week of trying and several "almost-lucid" experiences, I finally achieved lucidity for the first time. In my first almost lucid dream, I was being chased by cops and I realized I was dreaming just long enough to make them disappear, but I almost instantaneously forgot that I was dreaming.
My first real lucid dream (about a week and a half ago) was triggered by the same thing, but I maintained lucidity for a longer period of time. I was being chased by cops, so I realized I was dreaming and made them disappear. Then I continued to walk through this hilly meadow, and before I would walk over a hill I would imagine, thereby controlling, the next scene. I wanted to do something fun in the dream, so I imagined myself at the top of this almost infinitely high cliff and I jumped. The fall was amazing. I've never been sky-diving, but I'm willing to bet that the experience would be exactly the same. I stopped myself about five feet above the ground and began flying around while checking out the amazing scenery. Just about then, my grandpa called and woke me up.
My next lucid dream didn't happen until a couple nights ago. This one was triggered because I found a wad of single dollar bills wrapped around a 10,000 dollar bill. At first I was ecstatic that I found the money, but then doubts arised over whether 10,000 dollar bills even existed. Regardless, I realized I was dreaming and decided to just fly away. I went through several different scenes in which I slipped in and out of lucidity. In one of these scenes, I started confronting dream characters about them actually being dream characters. The first character didn't respond, and I don't remember some of the responses I got from other characters. To one character, I presented the possibility that he actually was real, and that we were just sharing the dream. He responded by saying, "No, that isn't the case." Anyway, it was very strange and intriguing experience. I'm very confident that I'll be able to have more and better lucid dreams.
