      Help me please

Hello everyone, I am new here and I am posting because lucid dreaming is a subject that interests me greatly. I have a bit of a problem though.

Whenever I realize that I am dreaming, I usually wake up, or at least what they call a "false awakening" but everytime I wake up I get sleep paralysis.

It is the most terrifying experience ever, I feel like there is a strong wind blowing against my body and that something is going into me (like, an evil demon) and usually is accompanied by a weird noise (the only way I can explain it is it's like the sound of the thing that is always chasing ASH in the Evil Dead Movies...best example I can think off...sorry ).

Sometimes, there is a old ghostly lady hovering above me and sometimes I try to scream but it just comes out as a quiet screech. Sometimes even when I realize I am dreaming I can "see" something bad coming, it's hard to explain. Once, I realized I was dreaming and I suddenly appeared in a long dark hallway with blue walls but they paint was peeling off, it looked really old and there was something coming to me, although I couldn't make it out, I believe it was the female figure and sure enough I '"woke up" and experienced the sleep paralysis.

I was wondering if this is normal and if there is anything I can do to prevent these horrible nightmares, I HATE false awakenings.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, and thanks for your help. I hope I will enjoy it here. 8)

      Dear Cuttooth,

Okay, everytime you become lucid you experience the onset of a terrifying dream and you wake up in a state of sleep paralysis. This may not be a conditions so much related to your Lucid Dreaming, as to the Stage or Progression of your development as a Dreamer.

At a certain Stage of Development in Dreaming, one has recurring Dreams of Terror, in which one is being pursued by Death only to find that one is almost paralyzed which only increases the terror since escape seems absolutely impossible. And, yes, waking up out of such dreams is often the escape resorted to, but it is the wrong tactic, since the Terror Dreams will only keep recurring until they are dealt with correctly.

What one needs to do is to STOP -- forget escape and suspend your fear. This is where your Lucidity can come to your assistance. Remind yourself that this is only a dream and that nobody was ever killed in a dream, or even hurt in a dream, and that where pain is administered, it never really hurts all that much, in a dream. This is why your Higher Dream Self has been allowing you to become Lucid -- your Dream Self is trying to give you the wherewithall to get past this Stage in your Dreaming -- to face your Fear of Death.

And Death it is. You must allow this Terrifying Thing to kill you. and kill you it shall do, if you turn and face it, and, indeed, you will be dead in your dream... for maybe a whole minute, if you do not wakeup first. If you manage to stay in the Dream, as a corpse, you will find yourself realizing that you are not really dead. You will rise yourself up and realize what you have been meant to realize, that you cannot be killed in a dream. to reinforce this realization, you may have a rapid succession of dreams in which you are killed and get up again, this time almost immediately, or, as it continues, you stop falling down at all as you grow beyond even accepting death at all in your dreams. It will make you FEARLESS in your Dreams, which then enables you for the next and higher level in your DREAMING.

      Evil Presence

      Hi cuttooth.

      Welcome and hear this:

SP (Sleep Paralisys) always frightened me, until I get to this forum and start to understand what it was. Once I was afraid of it... now I look forward to have it, because it is a jumping plataform to LD (Lucid Dreams).

About that evil presensences, hovering old lady, skulls, etc... they are nothing but our imagination playing tricks on us. Because we can't move, we are afraid of something coming to get us... and because we are Dreaming, anything your mind think in a Dream may come "true", dreamingly speaking.

So, if you think of a ghostly figure, you will see it, if you think on a good angel coming to help you, you will see it too.

Once you understand SP and how to deal with it and jump to an LD, you will no longer be afraid.

I used to wake up screaming. My wife used to wake me up. Now, I know how to take advantage of SP and get LDs.

I even lost my fear of the dark. I had to, otherwise I wouldn't be able to have many LDs that start in the darkness.

Before sleep, reafirm to your self: YOU ARE IN CONTROL. NO BAD FEELINGS, NO EVIL PRESENCE, NOTHING BAD... ONLY GOOD THINGS WILL FLOW.

And even so, things get bad, raise your hands and spwan a bean of light (yes, you can do that) into the things and they will vanish. After that, do a big jump and reach the skys to flee the scene and get a new one.

      GOOD LUCK!!!
