      A BIG problem

Hi, Im new. I have a major problem when ever I have a cold and I cant breath properly. When Im fast asleep and stuff builds up in my nose and throat I feel it through my dreams. Literally im suffocating through my dream. Its the most scary thing I have ever known. What if i cant wake myself up? Will I die in a dream?

No, you will not die. The human body has several mechanisms in place to wake you up whenever you air supply becomes compromised.

For example look at those poor people with sleep apnia(sp?) They totally stop breathing when they fall asleep, but their body compensates by waking them up just long enough to breath befor letting them return to sleep.

So, don't worry about it, you will be fine

You want to wake up from a lucid dream? OK, the best way to do so is to close your eye in your lucid dream. Most of the time, you will awaken, but be ready, sometimes you will have a false awakening.

Another way is to deliberately stare at something for a while.

Welcome to the forum! We hope that you enjoy your stay.

Well, sometimes that can happen, especially during the hayfever season. The solution is to use your dream control & make yourself unstuffy.

Hey, sometimes you do have to wake up from a LD, b/c you have to get up early or something. Just yell out, "WAKE UP!" a bunch of times, & you should eventually wake up!

When I was little and used to be scared in a dream and I was Lucid I used to fall down, close my eyes and count to three and i would find myself awake in my bed, if that helps at all

One time I had a dream that I couldn't breathe and I REALLY felt like I couldn't breathe so I quickly woke up and found myself face down into a pillow.

I don't know if this really has to do with your problem but I just HAD to post it.

Yea someone I know was telling me about the results of his sleep study (used to determine sleep disorders). Basically when he fell asleep he was sleeping for about 30 minutes or so and he stopped breathing 24 times. So that is sleep apnea. Luckily there are breathing machines that can be purchased that prevent breathing from stopping and basically give the sufferer the best night's sleep they have ever had.

In a lucid dream just open your real eyes to wake up. Its hard to explain, know that you can control you real eyes by opening your dream eyes more, it will shift back into reality.
