I could see how clear and real everything was

I had terrorist in my house wiring some bombs. But I didn’t let them know I was on to them. I wanted to see what they were going to do. They were wiring bombs from room to room like I was not even there. Then I saw my wife and wanted to let her know it was only a dream. But one of them was trying to stop me from getting close enough to whisper in her ear. I thought about destroying the terrorist at first then remembered reading about not being aggressive with your nightmares or they will return. While I was debating this I woke up. It was a neat experience in that I could see how clear and real everything was. Smell, touch and all senses were so real that if I was not thinking of it as a dream I would have not known.

Well it sounds like you were lucid, so there are a number of things you could have done to the terrorists. I have come to find that whenever I'm faced with problematic people in dreams, just letting them know that you know there is nothing they can do to harm you will make them just give up. I guess the only thing that would make a nightmare return is if you are really afraid of it.

I wasn't really scared because I knew it was a dream. But there was some anxiety to the fact that I couldn't get the message to my wife without going threw one of them. Yes I could have destroyed the one in my way but from what I read we should make friends with our enemies and wile debating what to do I awoke.
I think the conflict arose because of two objectives. One I purposely did not want them to know I was on to them just to see what they would do and two I wanted to get a message to the wife wile still keeping them from knowing that we knew. Doing anything to the character that was stopping me from telling the wife would let them know that I knew that it was a dream. I wanted to maintain the upper hand of letting them think I didn’t know it was a dream. I know that sounds complicated but it was just an experiment to see if I could fool them into thinking I was not aware.

I understand what you're saying. I try to treat dream characters with considerable respect when I lucid dream, but when it comes to terrorists or something like that, they are almost certainly nothing more than constructs. I think it's also notable that you were concerned with getting the message to your wife, even though you knew you were dreaming (i.e. she wasn't real). But in a lucid dream I too always treat my family members such as my brothers with the same consideration I do in real life. Your dream just reminded me of my own approach to LDing.

I had one dream in a bar when some girl ticked me off so I levitated her to the ceiling and sat her back down, and then I woke up. So I figured its not a good idea to get emotional. It seems to end the dream early
