disturbing "video game" dream loop

I had a strange and disturbing dream yesterday. It was almost as if I was a video game character and I had a mission to accomplish, and I did, involving killing some guy with a shotgun, I had a partner or sidekick too. After accomplishing my goal I would start over, "next level" so to speak. Towards the end I realized that I could control this world, for example I could rip a dollar bill and "heal" it by waving my hand over it and imagining it getting healed. I haven't practiced being lucid too often, although I will soon start a program, but I'm surprised that I didn't realize I was dreaming. I don't know. What do you think? P.S. It partly disturbs me because I'm afraid I'm becoming schizophrenic.

Welcome to Dream Views jwg. I think you were what may be consider as attaining low-level lucid dreaming. This is a great step toward achieving lucidity to the fullest capabilities. By the way do you play alot of video games? But if you feel like you couldn't capture the fact that you were dreaming which is natural. Just try some reality checks in your dream. For instance if you have lots of dreams where you are in a video game type enviorment, you can use that as a Dream Sign. If you are low-level and have a general idea that you maybe dreaming thats all the better and it makes attaining High-Level Lucidity easier. Are you saying that you are disturbed or afraid of being a schizophrenic from lucid dreaming? If thats the case I wouldn't worry about that because that will not happen.

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS, JWG! Here come the bananas! Anyway.... there's no way you can become schizophrenic from dreaming, unless you are already schizophrenic. Dreams are nothing more than thoughts, really. Don't ever worry about your dreams................... or should you (Freddy Crugar).

Videogames are usually the hardest dreamsign to have, since anything can happen in them and you'll automatically accept it. BTW, welcome!

No, I feel like I'm becoming schizophrenic (or have been for the last few months) independently of my dreams. That dream just gave me a further fear. If anything I see lucid dreaming as a means to gain insight and clarity into the world, take advantage of my schizophrenia in a similar way that the shamans of primitive societies did. No, I don't play video games, although when I was younger I did. The dream wasn't that vivid and being in a video game was more of an analogy. I don't know. Btw, are there any schizophrenics on this board who use lucid dreaming?

If you think your becomming schizophrenic, thats a good sign your not. Dreams don't always have a meaning. They can be about random things and can even be really weird. Most people can't tell when there dreaming. I have had dreams where far weird things have happened and not notice. So I wouldn't read to much into it. If you really think you are though, could talk to a doctor or something, couldn't hurt.

I'm not hallucinating or hearing messages from aliens or anything, but my way of thinking and interacting with the world is very different from other people's. I don't really know how to explain it. I can talk normally and communicate fine by writing, but if you talked to me it would probably get weird. In one of my crazy controlled reveries I thought of the metaphor that I have a mental virus that I am afraid of transmitting to other people. It's very difficult to explain, but I will say that I see this in my more optomistic moments as me trying to graple with circuits of consciousness that I don't have mastery over or full access too. Very difficult to explain or even for me to understand.

You don't sound like a schizophrenic to me. You might have a mental disposition quite different from the people around you, but hey, so do a lot of people.

Sounds like a normal dream to me. I have a lot of video game dreams, they happen when I spend a day playing them. Dreams are made of what you've experienced. If you played violent games or watched a movie like that recently, that's probably what triggered your dream.
