      Fire and Ashes(LD Story)

This whole thing was lucid, and about 2-3 hours long

      Fire and Ashes

I was in the snow, the cold blanket enveloped everything in my field of vision. I knew it was a dream, because we don't have any snow in in katy. And so I was lookin around, figuring out the scene. It looked like endless hills as far the eye could see. but it wasn't, the mounds were spikes, and the ground was scales. I was on top of a Dragon! His head whipped around like a whip, hovering in front of me like a scorpion's tail ready to strike. I felt the back of my hip, where two medium-length swords rested. I unsheathed them, and yelled at the Dragon, "Who are you? and what business do you have in Katy?"
"This is the last remnant of human life, and I am here to extinguish it!" he roared.
"What do you mean Dragon? What are you saying? that i'm the last human left?"
He cursed, then said, "No, you are one of seven, they hide some one in these lands. I have been sent to wipe them out. then our rule of the earth will be perfect and entire. No one to challenge us, or threaten our authority!"
"YOU LIE! Where is the rest of all mankind?"
He let out a malicious laugh. "Burned to ashes!" I then realized that I had to find the others left before this evil creature could kill them.
"You won't succeed dragon, not while I live." said I.
"Well then, Aasire, you must DIE!"
He lunged at me. I jumped into the air then double jumped off his face, that combined with the momentum of his head was enough to launch me 20 feet into the air. I sprouted wings and took to the skies. (I'll let you know what Aasire's are:
      The Aasire

Desciption: A diverse group of people, These bipeds resemble quite closely their feline and fowl counterparts, Although decidedly manlike in appearance and stature,

They congregate in arid forest areas, where they live in huts attached to the tallest trees. A gauntlet of rope bridges connect them like a airborne village. Although they tend to be a people-oriented race. Some Aasire take the path of travellers, or of warriors, even theives. There physical qualities is what divdes them in the greatest way. Ranging from a decidedly birdlike appearance, to lion-like attributes. Their race draws its power from for main elements, Fire, Water, Wind, Earth. Some Aasirens are able to bond with one of these elements and are able to control them slightly.

The Nalar are closely related to the predator side of felines, Resembling two legged lions, or Jaguars, they are very strong beasts, although what they gain in Strength they lose in intelligence. The Nalar, are known to make rash decisions, that sometimes end up starting wars. And even in everyday thinking skills they lack the mental prowess to effectively lead and prosper. Thus they tend to be better at support, rather than leadership. Their anger is unrivaled. A single comment or action could enrage a Nalar to the point of boundless slaughter without the slightest notice of who or what they are killing. Most Nalar rely less on blades, and more on blunt force, Hammers, mallets, and Maces are there weapons of choice, if they choose weapons at all. they range in height from 8 ft-12 ft. Despite their size, the Nalar are amazingly coordinated. an attribute common to all Aasire. Yet their mental limitations prevent them from fully utilizing their coordination. Some Nalar break the common mold and break the barriers of their brains. Making these few Nalar extremely dangerous and incredibly lethal.

The difference between the Viscan and the other Aasires is great, almost extreme. For they are the most manlike of any Aasire. Possessing smooth skin like elves, or men with one major difference, wings. Their wings are streamlined and very precise. Replacing the old feathers with new ones only once every two years. This process, molting, prevents flight for weeks at a time. Quick and agile, the Viscan are the smallest race of Aasire. Standing 5-6 ft in height, there height is best compared to their physical strength, The two strongest sets of muscles in the Viscans body are the wing muscles, almost out of porportion to the rest of their bodies. This allows the Viscans extended flight time and/or the ability to carry medium loads while flying. However the rest of the Viscan's body is fairly fragile. "When one blow can finish you off in a fight, the best defence and offence is avoidance. " Their battle strategy involves more of dodging and avoiding being hit, than actual strikes at their opponent. They are accomplished bowman. and favor raining the battle field with missiles rather than allowing for a one on one fight. This tactic has earned them a name of "cowards who aren't fit to be fought with, who shoot and run like scared rabbits." Although they do not seem to notice these accusations. the Viscan are amazingly smart. especially in clutch Live-or-die situations. Accomplished stategists, and proficient warriors, the Viscan are very friendly. They will welcome any traveller who doesn't seek to hurt them, in for a meal in their homes among the cliffs and trees. Although they are peaceful people, becoming a Viscan warrior is very treacherous. The ritual requires a Viscan boy or girl to be thrown from the highest cliff of a mountain. Success means a passage to the real training, and failure, doesn't need an explaination. The Viscan are the outcasts of the Aasire, because of their uncoothe fighting tactics, they have been shunned from their Aasiren brothers. This instilled in them a lust for battle, but they have balance their rage and calm in an incredible way. This makes the Viscan a terrible enemy, and a powerful ally.

The seeming perfect blend of Man and Cat. These Feline men are the Jacks of all trades. With the ability to becomes great Warriors, thieves, elementalists, anything is open to these masters of dexterity. There love has always been torn between small bladed weapons and there natural claws combined with martial arts. There personality has no default, Ranging from Happy-go-lucky to silent and depressed. This unpredictability catches some people off guard, And gives the Razur less structure than their other Aasiren brethren. Making them natural travellers and loners. The Razur have but one main colony. Where a deca-annual meeting is held to discuss future changes in the Razur's customs, laws, and anything else deemed important. Their Physical attributes as well as their five senses are Honed to near perfection, they have aposable ears which aids in determining the direction of sound. Excellent trackers, as well as fighters. These diverse beings are as varied as the flowers. Yet they all seem to be connected somehow. The Razur are the most likely(other than the Viscan) to become Elementalists. Their love for nature is unparalleled, even by the Elves. Making it possible to forge a bond with nature so strong, that the one making the bond is able to control the element he/she has bonded with. However, if they are separated from the element for extended periods of time, they grow weak, and begin to die. On the other hand, They can also draw power from the abundant energy of their element. One word decribes the Razur, Diverse. Not with a thousand books could you descibe all the difference between their strange society. With furry skin, tails, aposable ears, and catlike eyes, the Razur are the most like cats than of any other Aasire. Which means they posess the qualities that that entails. The Razur are a good balance between Power and prowess. With great reflexes and reactions, amazing dexterity, and unbelievable cordination. In addition to this, some Razzur have known to mix with the Viscans, and thus can take the best of both races. Flyers, with claws and strength, coordination, and dexterity, and perception.{The last thing is what I am, Viscan-Razzur})

I set off in search of the last seven. I began to think of all that must have happened. The dragons somehow reappeared, Mascare masses of people, then started eliminating the resistance little by little, and its down to me, and six other strangers.)"{<-- that means thinking} This meant if we die, humanity is extinct. I flew towards the last place I knew habitation would be. my old house. I swooped down, only to learn that there wasn't any snow here. And that my house was already in flames, and the last building left on the property was some fireproof building. I heard the rush of wings and knew I was in trouble, I dropped to the earth like a stone, and caught my fall just feet above the ground. An open wound across my back. Pained seared through me as I quickly made my way to the structure. My vision started to blur as I neared the door, and all went black before I could make it. I woke up in a bed, wrapped up in blankets and bandages. Evidently I had made it close enough to the building for them to see me and open the door, a risk to be sure, but it definitely saved my life. I sat up only to learn that my wound was still there, I blinked and looked around. The entire room seemed rather stuffy and dank. Mostly on account of poor lighting. A young women was coming towards me, antiseptics and fresh bandages in her arms. She was strikingly beautiful, latina looking, short, with dark hair. and her eyes seem to glow with happiness. I had to turn my eyes away from them, simply because I knew no such happiness, or even that it existed. As she neared my bed, I tried stand, but she quickly held out a hand, silently telling me to have a seat, because theres no way I'm getting out of this. I silently resigned myself to what was in store, and sat back down, carefully avoiding her eyes. She quietly set about her task of replacing my bandages and cleaning my wound. She began quietly humming as she worked. . . . ("Such happiness and joy, how does one retain such an attitude in these times of pain and misery?") I thought. I could not contain myself any longer.

"What is it that keeps you so happy?" I finally blurted out. She simply answered, "Hope" and with that, she tied the last knot in the wrappings, and got up to leave. "(That is what I saw, in her eyes. Hope, hope that everything will turn out fine. Hope that one day the dragons will be defeated.)" I gathered my belongings and started to leave. When what looked like the proprieter of the establishment rounded the corner and began towards me. He was a bent, gray haired man that looked middle eastern, with glasses and a smile to boot. "(Everyone around here is so happy. What is it, some kind of mental ward?)" The old man spoke to me, "And who might you be?" I pondered the question, who am I? "No one of consequence." I replied. "Fine, do not tell me, but I must warn you before you go. The dragon that wounded, still prowls these parts. I would advise you to stay indoors until your wound heals. Or at least, until you have had a good meal." he said frankly. I was starving, and since I didn't know how in the world I was going to defeat the dragon, I took him up on the offer. We ate a meager meal, which made me feel as though I was eating these folks last few meals. And was wearing their finest bandages. and they had saved my life. I was indebted to them. And just when I was about to offer my services, a women burst through the hallway doors, she was crying and collapsed as soon as she entered. Many people rushed to her. I picked up some of the bustle. "My son! Jay, he's out there with Dave, (who was apparently an older friend, definitely much older, a father or grandfather age figure.) Immediately I saw my redemption. I made my way to the woman. "Where were they last seen?" I asked. "In the pass, two miles north of here. But that was hours ago, and since the dragon attacked. . ." She began weeping again. I headed strait for the door. The young woman who had bandages me grabbed my arm. "Your not going out there are you? In your condition? You'll never make it!" she exclaimed. "I'm not that easy to kill." I answered. "Oh yeah? you sure wounded easily enough." she quiped. I knew she was right. It was a dragon, not some small beast. But then the woman on the floor's weeping became louder and I knew that I had to try. "Go help her, she needs your support right now." With that, I cut my bandages since the impaired my wings, and opened the door.

I heard gun shots as I flew. each stroke of my wings sent pain coursing through my body. but I continued on. I saw the pass, and saw a cliff over hanging it. Then I saw him. sweeping over and over again, scanning the landscape for any signs of his prey. I called out to him, "You Dragon! Whats your name?" He started at the sound of my voice, and hollered back, "The DeathBringer!" And clapped his wings and began rushing towards me. I followed suit, and a vicious game of chicken had begun. As we neared each other, He broke left, and stopped, mid-air, with a mighty rushing of his wings. He arched his neck, inhaled and let out a burst of fire. Luck however, seemed to be on my side, and the wind interfered and directed the flame away from me. He cursed. "Fine, then it is death by fang and claw!" with that he again rushed at me, this time I was ready, and when he grappled for me, I banked right, and run my sword across his side, cutting into his wing. DeathBringer plummeted to the earth, and impacted on the cliff overhanging the valley. I heard a cry of distress not far from where he landed, and learned how unfortunate I was that he landed on the cliff. Jay and Dave were on that cliff! As fast as my wings would carry me I shot towards the cliff. and without even bothering to slow down, hit the snow like a comet, sending showers of the white shroud everywhere. I heard more gunshots, and an old man talking to a younger one. "Good shot Jay, now reload," I saw that the older man had burned burned on his face and neck, his eyes no longer functioned, and he was solely relying on his young friend to defend them. I heard the DeathBringer dragging his heavy body towards them, I unsheathed my sword and sprinted towards the noise, He came into view, Inhaling he sent a wall of inferno at me, too little too late. I thrust my side deep in his side. He thrashed and flailed his wings and arms in pain, I drew my second sword and again penetrated his skin with my blade. He writhed in pain. and eventually through me off. I landed some ten feet away. He had stopped squirming and was breathing heavily. "I am only one, Aasire, You barely defeated me, but what you don't know, is that while you were gone, those under me have ravaged the place you rested at. Thanks to you we found they were still in there. All it took was a little heat to send them out. So I guess I should be thanking you sinc . . .," he flinched in pain, "*exhale* since you led us to them." he said maliciously. "No, your a horrible liar Deathbringer, and an even worse Dragon. You shame even your own kind." I remarked. "We dragons do not lie, all that I have said to you is truth. You will find out soon enough. You failed to save the boy and the old man too. They are nothing more than ashes by now. So congratulations Aasire, you are the last sentient being other than us dragons left. We will make you a deal. Since you are a worthy adversary, and we do not wish to kill you, we will leave you in peace, you may chose any place on the earth to live, so long as to do not try and interfere with our plans." . . . "No, I will not stop until I have slain all of your kind. You are not noble hunters, Your pathetic scavenger who kill for sport and amusement." I replied. "And what then eh? after you kill all of us, and your the last living sentient being on the planet? What then Aasire. You have but two paths, one of everlasting torment, and pain. a constant warring against us. Or you can live in peace, and harmony with us even.........." I slit his throat. I could not stand any of his inane babblings. I stood painfully, and sure enough, Jay and Dave were nothing more than burning Cadavores. I flew to the building, and found that he had spoken truth once again, The building was also burning. I made my way back to the cliff was the dragons dead body lay. and wondered what would happen, why was I the last person. I was the last living entity other than dragons left on the planet. Largely due to my own fault. If not for me then those Cheery, hopefilled occupants would still be alive. I know I should have felt guilt, and pain. But all I could feel was emptiness. there was nothing left.

      Then the dream ended.

It feel really horrible to be the last things besides dragons left. I don't know how to describe it. It was just...... really terrible

Do you have any creative writing classes left to take?
Some of your dreams, especially that one, would be sure to get noticed.

I dunno, most writing I do for school is specialized, not too much room for emprovision. But I'll definitely think about that, Thanks.

Such detail, forget having your foot in the door, you are living both lives.

I cant help but cringe though... it makes my insides crawl, there are good dragons just as there are evil ones, I do hope you know that
I am curious, what color was it.

Yes, I know very well there are good drages. But as it happened, these, weren't. They were greyish black. very dark looking overall, but I didn't get a clear look most of the time. Because of snow, pain, different things. but yeah, I'm thinking of creating the scenerio again, and see what my mind brings up, I'll let you know what happens

Wow. Go you with your bad self! :bravo: Maybe it's inappropriate to say this, but I think that would make a wonderful story. Perhaps it was another life? Or a parallel life? Or a number of things! Still, even thought it was a lucid dream, it makes me want to read the rest of the book.

Ah yes... and a warning to everyone: Please don't slay any metallic-colored dragons. One of them might be Serinanth or a relative.
