Well, being exhausted generally isn't good on your dream recall or if you're working on RC's. If you're too worn out, it simply won't work a lot of the time.
Now, I don't know if it's possible that you LD'd and forgot it, I'd assume so, but I'm not sure, since they are conscious memories, which usually don't fade that fast. But chances are you did dream, and simply didn't wake up between REM cycles, which virtually eliminates the chances of total recall, and limits the partial recall you'll have.
Just don't worry about it, and sleep plenty when you can. Don't oversleep when you don't have to though, it'll totally drain you and you'll just feel like you need more rest, when you know you don't. And it'll give you a killer headache... Anyway, sleep 8-9 hours a night, and don't work yourself to death if you don't have to, and your recall should improve.
