A Lucid Dream in a Normal Dream

In this dream I was in a park with heaps of people about (I thought I was awake) and I knew I was close to having a lucid dream. I had been feeling kind of ‘vibrational’ so I found a little rocky ledge to sit on and closed my eyes. Almost immediately I felt the vibrations start up and tried to encourage them. I remember feeling how good it was that I could do this directly from being wide awake, instead of needing to go to sleep first. I felt my body tip backwards until my feet were in the air and finally somehow ‘launched’ free of my body. (I know this sounds like an OOBE or AP but I have slipped into lucid dreams like this several times before and fully believe that they were only lucid dreams - I'm actually skeptical of the whole OOBE thing, but that's another story...)

Once I was lucid I remembered that I had a plan to run through some reality checks to test which ones are effective. I started with one that I have never read about, but thought might work, it involved just asking myself what day it was. My assumption is that it should not actually be any day (like a Monday or Tuesday) in a dream. Unfortunately, as I was thinking about this, I was unable to stop myself dashing about like a madman... and then I woke up about two seconds later.

Pleased to get lucid - disappointed I squandered it in such a stupid fashion. I have become lucid in a dream before but never actually fallen asleep in a dream (or thought I did) and become lucid that way. Cool. Inception, here I come...!!

Aaaahh man!! I hate when that happens - you thought you were lucid but then it turns out you were only dreaming of lucid dreaming!

It doesn't sound like there was any actual lucidity in there anywhere, but it's still encouraging. You're thinking about it enough to make yourself dream about it though, and that means you're close!
