Finally did it with AILD (annoy initiated lucid dreams)

well im a long time reader first time poster. Ive had one lucid experience before this one which was a couple of weeks ago when i was trying hard to experience one.

i went to bed around 1. i told myself i am going to realize im dreaming. i laid there for about 30 min. My dog was scratching the door in the garage (thats where shes supposed to sleep at night) trying to get in and whining. It was pretty difficult to fall asleep. I decided to watch tv. I eventually switched it off at 3:00 and tried to sleep again. about 10 min. later i felt this real strange sensation around my body. I was going into sleep paralysis. I could feel my body freezing up and tingling all over. It didnt scare me since i new there was nothing wrong from reading posts here. I felt like i could still move but i didnt want to disturb what was happening because i new i was inches away from lucidity. All of a sudden my mind composed an awsome rock song. it was pretty good. course i forgot it now . I remembered something that i think A Lost Soul or ShadowNightWing posted (sorry i cant remember who) about trying to lift your spirit or dream body out of your real body in this state. i think that it was to get an OBE though which i really didnt want. It felt REAL strange.

so now i was in my lucid dream. i wont go into details since theres a whole lot of stuff that happened and a whole lot i cant even remember.

but i will tell u peops that i was talking to my dad and i told him that i was dreaming. he didnt believe me. i tried to prove it to him by putting my finger through my hand. nothing happened. then i stared at my hand for a long time, looked away then back. it was my hand. no abnormal look. it was so vivid. then i tried flying. then i tried that thing where you jump in the air and float down slowly. NO CHANGE IN GRAVITY. then i walked up to a mirror to look at myself. i saw myself. Thats when i started getting a little skeptical if was actually asleep. At that time i was on the 2nd floor of a 2 story mall. i was by the rail looking down. I said ok then im gonna jump this rail and im gonna either fly or die. sadly i chickened out since all the past reality checks failed.

so after a while i thought i woke up, but it was a false awakening. i was in my room. now this is very strange because im NEVER in my room in dreams. i dont remember myself ever dreaming of my room. i was in bed and wanted to fall asleep again to have a lucid dream. i looked at the clock and it was 6:00. I then checked again, but not because i thought i was dreaming but just because i usually do it anyways (i made it a habit). it was now 8:00. i was like WAHH, this cant be a dream its to real. i tried to look at it again but my vision got blurred and i couldnt see. i blacked out probably to another dream.

eventually i woke up for real and felt myself in that sleep paralysis stage again and quickly fell back asleep.

so here are some questions i have:

*do a lot of you go into lucidity through sleep paralysis

*do many of you have to stay up for many hours before you feel sleep paralysis? it was so easy to get lucid from it and i want to do it again but it took me FOREVER to do it.

*what are some reality checks that might work for me?

*do i have to train myself to fly and change other laws that would be in the real world. if so what should i try thinking/doing to do it?

well sorry for the long post. This forum is great. It really has helped me understand and experience lucid dreaming.

(btw i know there isnt an AILD)

congradulations fundude, you've done a lot more than most beginners.

do a lot of you go into lucidity through sleep paralysis

      [/b]
yes. that would happen at the beginning of WILD.

do many of you have to stay up for many hours before you feel sleep paralysis? it was so easy to get lucid from it and i want to do it again but it took me FOREVER to do it.

      [/b]
sleep paralysis occurs every time you go to sleep.

what are some reality checks that might work for me?

      [/b]
I was just thinking this morning, \"what if Reality Checks such as trying to push your finger through your palm, trying to fly, or other popular checks did not work?\" the answer is to find something that is unstable in the dreamworld, such as a clock or book. you tried the clock check...but it failed simply because the dream was so much like reality. (hey, it's happened to me before too. ) I guess beacause the clock check didn't work, you should try looking in a book, reading the page's contents,
using your finger to book mark the page you were on, closing the book and then opening it up to that page and if it says something different (or if the words are distorted) then it is certainly a dream.

do i have to train myself to fly and change other laws that would be in the real world. if so what should i try thinking/doing to do it?

      [/b]
most people don't, but there are some who need to train themselves. I know a thread was made to help people who can't, and I did a search for it...curses. can't find it. could someone please post the link? thanks.

well...welcome to DreamViews, hope I helped you some. ^_^

      thanks for all the posts

and paperdoll the clock check actually did work. that would probably be my best reality check for the moment. i usually dont wear a watch though, so ill just have to search for one.

what i find strange was in my first lucid dream i could fly easily with no problem. But this dream was more vivid and lucid but i found i could barely break the laws of gravity.

      Hey fundude!

Sounds like a breaththrough experience for you. I cannot assume you were not dreaming, but it's unexpected to me that you could not do the physically impossible in the dream, hehe. The images that ran through my mind while reading your first post was the training in the first Matrix film in which "freeing your mind" was a hard to attain, but liberating task.

Keep up the good work! After having just a few dreams would jump start your confidence in your proficiency!
