Encountering other dreamers in your dreams==any thoughts ?

I have encontered other dreamers in my dreams----I know this is the case as I encounter these others....they don't just seem like a typical archetypal character that are symbolically
often in my dreams. There is this awarenes that occurs when I encounter them they look at me and I look at them---and there is a moment where we both realize that we are dreamers----Its a overwhelming feeling that likens ito recognizing someone off the street in a random occurence . But unlike a conscious experience---I know in a dream this not suppose to happen.

I remeber seeing an episode of " Northern Exposure" whwere dream migration occurred---is this a common thing ?

Your comments or insights are greatly appreciated

I have not had a shared dream but I have encountered dream characters who would likely be another dreamer. It seems that the subconscous mind is capable of so much

There's still a bit of a debate going on about shared dreaming around the forum, a few people think they are sharing a dream with someone and then they ask that person the next day but the other person doesn't have any recollection of anything like that happenning.

It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's very hard to convince others it was a real shared dream. The dream world is full of characters who are not and do not seem like your typical, run of the mill, characters.

Do you know the people who you see? I'm just thinking, not to say that you aren't sharing a dream, but if you didn't know the people you were meeting then you couldn't be certain that they are real or not, that gut feeling you get can be misleading sometimes...

I believe that dream sharing is extremely improbable, but in this reality, you should never say never. Most likely what is happening is you brain is trying to relate you to the dream characters, and once you make eye contact with one your brain connects you with them. You also subconsiously control them so they could act like how you believe another dreamer should act. Ask them next time, I doubt they wil give you a straight answer, but conversations with dream characters is always a great experince.

      Sounds like a False Awakening.

Well, I thought about it, but I didn't move it because he said he did it and then told us some stuff, then he asked a simple question. I would've moved it had it just been the question.

I suggested recently that everybody who wants to try dream sharing meet up at the base of the Eiffel Tower and wear an all orange outfit. When you see others at the base of the Eiffel Tower wearing all orange, talk to them. Get the screen names of them along with a code for each one. You might want to try just one or two characters to make sure you remember them and their codes. Then leave a post saying you talked to whomever at the Eiffel Tower and see if one of them tells you their code.

      Spread the word.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

Whatever the skeptics say, I can assert with full conviction that I once had a shared dream. Way back decades ago when I was a starving college student I had a dream in which I was searching about in the school's cafeteria looking for something to eat. Then I met a lady acquaintence of mine who was intent upon doing the same thing. But we were both excellent conversationalists and so we could not resist having a chat when we met each other. I told her the places I had examined and what I had found, and she replied with telling me where she had been and what she had found. It was a fairly elaborate conversation.

The next day we met in a busy hallway, and as soon as our eyes met we each knew what we each knew. We confronted each other by both simultaneously reciting our complete dream dialogue -- not one of us getting ahead of the other, but we recounted it detail per detail at the same time. It was obvious then as now that we had shared the same Dream Scene, that we had had overlapping dreams.

Thinking back, it was good it did not turn into a sex dream, as that would have been most embarrassing the next day.
