      Well... this was fairly simple

Hi, i'm new to lucid dreaming - kind of.

I was lead here by howstuffworks.com

Kudos, nice stuff here. Makes you feel ... not at home. Heh.
Anyway, I didn't realize this up until now but I lucid dream alot.
Its strange though, because I do maybe 5-8 times a month, maybe even more.
I dont even think about it, it just happens.
But there is one problem, sometimes when I realize im dreaming the dream fades away. It doesn't seem real anymore and it feels like light and reality is ripping through my dream view. Everything seems distorted and with less detail, I feel more distracted and its very hard to continue staying lucid. Eventually I wake up.
I can stay lucid in a dream for about a minute or two. And I mean REALLY lucid. As in I know whats going on around me and I know im slowly losing grip of my dream.
Weird thing is lucid dreaming sometimes happens when i'm bothered.
Sometimes when my mom is in the room or my bro is watchin TV or something in the backround distracts me from my dream.

Sometimes I have these dreams where they appear so real I start to question myself if they are dreams, but I find no proof and think "no, they're real".
When I was younger I had this ability to get out of bad dreams.
Whenever I had a nightmare or an unconfortable dream I saw myself in the third person and a little portal created infront of me and I screamed so hard and then all i saw was swirling red and white and I transferred into a different dream or woke up.
I cant seem to do this anymore, however.
Another thing is, I am usually lucid in dreams that I crave for, if you know what I mean.
Like I could be dreaming that I'm in some apartment then I become lucid and go in the hallway to look for girls...
Its really weird but everytime I get somewhere closer the dream gets distorted and I eventually wake up.

Im wondering if there is any advice u can give me, like harmless expirements I can do in my sleep or try something cool.
I found it hard, its hard to find, oh well, whatever, nevermind.

There are numerous ways of prolonging lucid dreams. One is dream spinning, where basically you spin around like a top if you notice the dream fading. This tends to create a new dream scene. If you concentrate you can influence what this scene is, however when you enter the new scene it's easy to forget you are dreaming so you could try repeating "I am dreaming" or something like that.

Another technique is rubbing your hands together. I think this isn't quite as effective but it's probably the way to go if you want to stay in the same dream scene. You can find more info on the Dream Views main site ot search the forums.

As for other things to experiment with, use your imagination. Or find experiments on the forums.

WILD is Wake Induced Lucid Dream. There are a couple of tutorials here about it.
You can also try looking at your hands to stabilize your dreams.

Another trick I have found is to not look at any one thing too long. Doing so can terminate your dream too quickly. When I am lucid dreaming, I will usually only allow my gaze to linger on something for a 10-30 seconds before looking away. You can always switch your gaze back after a few seconds.

So whats the point of it? Wouldn't it just be simpler to lucid dream? What does it feel like when you are WILD.

Yes, it would be simpler. Unfortunately for many of us, lucid dreaming is somewhat ellusive and doesn't happen as often as we would like. Practicing WILD helps you increase your chances of having a lucid dream.

WILD feels like, well something wild
You experience vibrations, hear sounds, see patterns and dream sequences pass before your eyes. It is quite an experience.

Even if you are able to lucid dream naturally, I would reccomend trying the WILD technique as well. Like Seeker said, it is quite the experience!! Personally, I really enjoy it.

Well, now im not sure if I actually was lucid dreaming. I didnt know I was dreaming but I could control parts of the dream like direction etc... I can only move in them. I rarely realize im dreaming, but sometimes I can do simple things like walk around places.
Then you have the retarded things like driving in a car and then suddenly you're walking, etc...
Also, whats with some of these nightmares with flashing lights and stuff?

I wouldn't say retarded, but strange. I have some verrrry bizzare non lucid dreams.

In non lucid dreams I can almost always control what I am doing, such as direction and decisions, just not consciously.

I haven't experienced a nightmare in over a year, to my knowledge. I searched for any information that could help you with that, but to no avail. Try posting the question in Dream Interpretation. Maybe somebody there can help.

Oh well I only remember one dream that would fit the "lucid" description.
I was dreaming and I saw some sign and said to myself "Wait, Im dreaming"
But I cant really remember anything else. Also, when I lucid dream I dont REALIZE im dreaming, but I can control my direction and some actions, like I said.

I wanna be able to tell the difference between reality and dream
