Hi,
I've just started practicing some of the techniques on lucid dreaming this month. Although the results are not as great as those I've read in other postings, I am encouraged that I've had measurable success. These are the only two examples so far:

I'm holding on to a cigarette and having a very vocal debate with some unseen person (myself?) as to wether or not I will smoke it. I haven't smoked in a long time so I knew I was dreaming. I got so excited I shot into the sky and lost lucidity right away. The second dream.....

A friend of mine knocked on the door and when I opened it she had four children. I knew she did not have these children so I figured it must be a dream. I did a reality check and sure enough my finger slipped right through my hand. Once again, I became overly excited and shouted with a voice that seemed to boom throughout the entire neighborood, "I'm Dreaming!" I tried to spin in circles as I felt the dream getting away and managed one and a half turns. At the very end of the rotation I tried to look into a mirror. A mirror did form but I could not see it clearly. It seemed enveloped in a cloudy field of static. I think it broke though, because I seemed to see several diamond shapes in the static as I tried to focus on it.

Wow, even though these dreams were not as awesome as some of the others I have read of, I am hopeful because I have really only gotten started this month. I have been journaling, doing frequent reality checks, reading posts on this site, and trying to improving my recall. I can't wait to have some more lucid experiences to share with you all.
