So i got caught in a weird dream loop...

So this is my first post here. As long as i can remember i've always had lucid dreams fairly often, certainly not every dream, but i can usually figure out im in a dream 1 out of 3 or 4 times.

Any way, im guessing it started out early this morning, i remember it started as a dream where there were ants all over my room and in my bed and the ants could talk, i didnt know i was dreaming yet so it was pretty unpleasent, especially when one of them the size of a hotwheels car clamped onto my middle finger. It hurt like hell, swung it around and banged it against stuff but couldnt get it to let go.

Shortly after this i wake up, or at least i think i do. I felt like i was in my bed in my room, but i felt this weird crushing exaustion. I could barely move and everything was blurry so i just said f*** it and went back to sleep.

Shortly after, another dream starts up, im in a weird blue super hero outfit, fighting some cursed green owl spirit, traveling between diffrent realms of reality until i wound up behind the publix grocery store behind my house.

(Im sure this sounds crazy but literally almost all of my dreams, lucid or not, are just as crazy this or more so)

Anyway the owl goes after my girlfreind whos at my house in the dream and i make the concious decision that i have to fly there. Now how my dreams usually become lucid, is in the dream ill suddenly make a decision or observation that feels more "conscious" or i feel more aware of making and it suddenly hits me that im in a dream.

So now im lucid but i decide im gonna try to fly anyway because why not, i get 3 inches into the air and im back in my bed. Same exausted feeling.

This happens maybe 10 more times. I go into dream, all of them after the first are lucid and very vivid and just wild (my favorite being the one with the church made entirely of books of all diffrent sizes with steeples that went through the clouds) then i wake up to exhausted to move and lay there until i go into the next dream.

This happened until literally 12:30 in the afternoon, no reason for me to sleep that late. I had gone to bed at 11pm that night and had taken a nap the previous day as well.

So i guess the question is, what the heck happened to me?

This was likely a chain of false awakenings. On the other hand, if your awakenings in between the dreams were real, then this was a DEILD chain.

This happens to me all the time! It's so frustrating! The first time it really freaked me out because I knew that I needed to wake up for real to get to work but nothing I did seemed to wake me up! Obviously I eventually did and this is what led me to explore lucid dreaming! I'm getting more control now but still need a lot of practice!!

False awakenings are dreams in which you seem to wake up but are actually still dreaming. DEILD stands for Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream, and it's a type of lucid dream one enters by maintaining awareness when falling back asleep immediately after waking up from a dream. One can use DEILD after waking up from a DEILD; doing so repeatedly produces a DEILD chain.
