      It works!

      Hi everyone,

Two nights ago I had my first LD! I think that this community works. I entered this community ten days ago or so and I never had LD before (with the exception of a fragment of LD last Summer).

In the dream, I was in a hotel room. A girl entered the room and after few moments - I don't know why - I realized that it was a dream. I was starting to talk with her, then I felt that she was trying to suffocate me. I woke up with this scary sensation on my throat.

I notice that in the fragment LD that I experienced some months ago, there was a girl too (in that case an old lady) and that she was threatening me as well.

      Well... scary LDs but LD!

Now I'll keep trying with more enthusiasm than before. Thanks to everyone: by reading your posts I feel inspired.

Congratulations on your first lucid dream! Are you writing in your dream journal and doing reality checks every day? I find that this helps immensely for attaining lucidity.

Next time try modifying your environment with your superpowers. Remember, in a dream the only limits are your imagination and your creativity! Hopefully your next lucid dream won't be as scary.

The dream is still in my head
I heave a sigh and sadly smile
And lie a while in bed
I wish that it might come to pass
Not fade like all my dreams” —Rush

Yes, I have a dream journal, and I'm increasing my dream recall too. As to RC, often I just don't remember to do them... but with my first experience of lucid dreaming and your encouragement I'm more motivated now!

Might mean girls hate you >.>
Or you're afraid of them <.<

      Nah, j/k!

I wish I had a lucid dream after joining but all I had was a realization of dreaming and then...I woke up.
Now who's the loser?! Oh wait...I am...I'll go and kill myself now. :sweat1:

The strangling feeling you get is most likely sleep paralysis... Whenever I enter sleep paralysis, I feel I'm getting strangled too. It's nothing to be afraid of, though, as you can still breathe normally, but it scared me out of my first WILD.

Sleep paralysis: interesting interpretation, I didn't think about this possibility. In fact it's my second LD (my first one was quite brief and happened long time ago) and in both occurrences SP was involved. Now I realize it...

This is the value of this community: it would be hard to find in the books the detailed info that the sensation of being strangled is linked to sleep paralysis; here a post can provide this interesting info.

      Thanks Jalexxi and thanks everyone!

Yes, I experienced the same. I think that by registering to this community we are telling ourselves that we're seriously committed to LD and this increases dream recall and LD. Then our mind is kept connected to LD through the read and written posts. Furthermore the encouragement by peers and "masters" makes its part.
The books provide advice, but a community provide the boost.
