      What's the deal with spinning?

I've heard a lot of people mention spinning in their dreams... what's this good for, and what does it do?

For some reason, it increases the vividness and lucidity of my dreams. If I see my dream world fading, I will try spinning around and more often than not it will make everything more realistic and give me greater control over what's going on. Rubbing my hands together has the same effect, but it doesn't work as well as spinning does.
“The sleep is still in my eyes
The dream is still in my head
I heave a sigh and sadly smile
And lie a while in bed
I wish that it might come to pass
Not fade like all my dreams” —Rush

Ive heard different speculation as to why it works but I like to think "it just works". But as to what it does, you can change scenes, increase clarity and, just plain enjoy spinning without throwing up (if youre like me)

It keeps me from waking up, but it can also have a tendency to trigger an FA.

Spinning has kept me in a lucid dream before, but it hasn't worked every time for me. Rubbing my left hand with my right thumb works better for me.
