      Lucidity and Self-Healing

My greatest lucid dream was in the midst of a healing crisis and that dream has been my impetus to discover more about the potential of lucid dreaming to heal even serious illness.

The dream itself came about when I was desperately ill with something the doctors could only call chronic fatigue syndrome, for lack of a better term. I slept all the time, too deep for LD's. Then, I began to try and use the dreamtime by first meditating and falling asleep aware. This particular dream came after about a week of experimentation with my sleep/wake state and lucidity attempts. Interestingly, it seems that one needs a certain amount of chi or energy in order to lucid dream, so it took me awhile to build up enough strength. But then, one night I had the dream.

I awoke in my dream to hanging in a black velvet void. There was no light anywhere, except all around my own body, as if it were in a spotlight. I was just floating in this velvet blackness, in the void itself. As I hung there, I realized I wanted to heal. And so I spoke the words outloud into the void: "Protection! Protection and Healing! I call upon the forces of healing and protection!" My voice seemed to ring out through the universe, bigger and stronger and clearer then I have ever heard it. The sound seemed to ring out from me in wavelets and there were echoes in the blackness. And then I woke.

I lay in bed for a minute of two with the total sensation of energy rushing through my body. I leapt out of bed and ran to the mirror. Sure enough, I saw something I had not seen for many months--my eyes were once again a fierce and brilliant blue. And from that point on, the symptoms began leaving my body.

I am interested in knowing if anyone else has had or has experimented with lucidity in this way or in any other way that involves physical or emotional/mental healing.

I have medical problems and a lot of stress associated with them and would give my right arm to have a dream like that. I think that has been one of my main reasons for staying interested in LDs. I could not help but thank god for a dream like that considering all things are from him.

      I guess....

Not being a Christian myself, all I can do is say, "well, whatever works!"

I know that something is definitely available to us--call it God, our higher self, the soul, the Dharma, whatever. Something "responds"--and it is this response that excites and interests me most.
