      Lucid but not full control?

I sometimes have dreams where something happens in a dream and I know I will wake up but I dont have full control? A recent dream I had, I was shot in the leg by someone and I could see everything fairly relistic, and as soon as I looked at my leg I thought "This can't be real I know I'm going to wake up" but I have little, if no control at all even though I know its a dream, and I still think that its not a dream though too. Is there a way to prevent this? I realy want to have a LD!

i'm not sure if this fits into your topic exactly but I thought I'd put it here....lucid but not full control...

Just last night I had a lucid dream where I had no control over anything but myself...and that control was very minimal even. But I came to the conclusion that I was actually a part of someone else's dream therefore I had no control over anything but myself. Wierdness.

Is it possible that this lack of control is actually because the dream doesn't entirely belong to one person?

I think that the lack of cotnrol is a ... battle (to use a cliched term (it's 4:34 am, ok? and it's not like im freshly a-wooken, either)) between what you think you want and what you REALLY want.

But I do also agree with that it may not be entriely one person's own, singular dream.

Or... maybe you just had a low level lucid. I've found that trying to get more control (directly) makes me get less and doesn't really work. So rather, try to get your dream to become more realistic. When you realize you're in a dream more and more, you will have super control. The more aware you are the more control. Some people would object to this and say "but I can't control anything." Well, that's silly. if you recognize its a dream clearly, you will have good control.

Yep, these no-control (or low-control) lucids are possible. Personally, I've had a lucid where I had absolutely no control over my own actions or other things in the dream. I just realized I was dreaming, and then the dream continued on that cue, and my dream self started trying to fly, although if I was in control, the first I'd do was try to stabilize the dream. I'm not sure what causes these lucids, but I think they're pretty rare.

I had this problem in my first Lucid Dream. I 've read about it and I think the problem iss that you might not be completely convincing yourself that your dreaming. This would leave you Lucid, but also doubting that what you are experiencing. I think what you need to do is build confidence so that when you become Lucid you'll be solid on the fact that it's all a dream and you're in control. Either that or do some control affirming exercises like yelling "This is all a dream and I'm in control!"

I think that having a low level lucid probably happens to everyone at one point or another...
Shit...I have em' more than I have regular LDs. Sometimes, as carrathanatos has already mentioned, having a good LD is a battle. You just have to keep fighting it until you win. One good way to get around this is to become utterly obsessed with LDing...I know it has worked for me.
