Thread: Enough to put me off Lucid Dreaming

Some of the experiences this guy has had makes me think twice about attempting WILD. Are his experiences common? Have you exhibited similar fear during WILD, lucid dreaming or an OBE?

Ill be honest, I only skimmed it. Im too tired right now, but I can tell you that one persons experience shouldn't be enough to put you off of anything. Listen to everyone. Every WILD experience Ive had has been overwhelmingly positive.

I've had many lucid dreams over the coarse of the past three years. Not a single one of these LD's were Wake Induced. I did not read the article, but I would guess that this guy has had some false-awakening and/or old hag-esque experiences.

I've never practiced anything other than "dream recall" and sheer will to induce lucid dreams. LD's can occur very naturally without premeditated ritualistic practices. Okay, maybe not "ritualistic" but... you know.

Okay, so I read some of the article. This guy is talking about his "experience" with OBE. Our minds can easily create the feeling of leaving our bodies, I've experienced it myself. There is no question in my mind that there is this "OBE" thing which is seperate from typical dreams, but we shouldn't assume that it is our spirits leaving our bodies.

This guy tried to make like he was rational about his OBE's at first, but how plainly rational can you be if you are a monk? As a christian monk, I would be surprised if he hasn't got an entire spiritual road-map already seared into his thought-process from his religous endeavors. Of coarse he will assume that what he is experiencing is spiritual. The experience is largely what you make of it, I believe.

I'll definately continue attempting WILD, my curiosity overrides fear. Some of that stuff was creepy as anything though.

WILDs are the way to go. Seriously.

Of the ridiculous number of LDs I've had, the WILDs are the most fun. As long as you understand what is happening to you, it shouldn't be scary.

Father X in those papers was uneducated on what was happening to him (and LDing is still a relatively new topic), so naturally he found it disturbing and fightening at times.

My first LD was a WILD and was scary as hell, i'll never forget it, but I can look back on it and understand what was happening now

Honestly, my WILDs are the most VIVID lucid dreams I've ever had. Its definitely my favorite method for LDing!
