      Conversations

Have in watched Waking Life, I'm curious as to how conversations with people work in Lucid Dreams. When you're lucid you have control over events and what you can do, but how do you remain passive when listening to someone? Are you not in control of what they say too? In that case it would merely be speaking to yourself I suppose.

I've yet to engage in an intensely philosophical discussion (à la Waking Life) with a dream character while lucid. On several occasions, though, I have had conversations with DC's while lucid.

I've noticed that even if I am lucid, a DC will behave just as he/she would in a normal dream. Their attitudes will change, however, if I tell them that I know I'm dreaming. Even still, I've never got the impression that I have direct control over what they're saying. Maybe it is because the subconscious mind needs to maintain a certain level of integrity in lucid situations.

There is a mention of you're DC's attitudes changing when u inform them that u are aware it's a dream.. How do they react exactly?

I've noticed that DC's will typically take offense to the idea that they are only part of a dream. I've had dream characters become agitated to the point of almost becoming violent when I tell them that they are not real. On the other hand, some DC's act frightened to learn that they will exist only momentarily inside of a dream. Others may try to deny the fact.

The only DC's that are okay with me telling them that I am lucid are people I am close to in real life. As of late, I no longer harass DC's in this way. That is, of coarse, unless the DC is particularly nasty.

Wow, I've never thought of telling a DC that they didn't exist Of the seven LD's I've had, I've only really talked with one DC. I was asking the DC personal questions, not too personal, just get to know you type questions. After a few questions the DC got very aggitated and told me to leave and I told it that I like to fly and jumped away from it and floated to the ground. I've got a whole list of things I want to try in an LD. Now I have one more Now I just need to manage to make them last more than just a few minutes.

if i ever tell a DC that i'm dreaming they usually laugh at me as if i were insane. i find this pretty amusing. i've never had one actually get angry at me about it, but that sounds pretty amusing also. DCs never really answer my questions, they usually respond with some answer that doesn't make any sense. i've never had a successful conversation with a dream character. i'd be interested in meeting a dream guide though.

yeah, one time i had a conversation with a hot girl that i know in an LD, and eventually i was like, yeah, i'm in a Lucid Dream, and youre not real, and i can do whatever i want! And she just kinda started walking away with a sort of scared look on her face, like i was gonna try to bang her without her wanting me to. I should've lol! j/k

I do sometimes have arguments with people while lucid. But its mostly George W. Bush. The war is wrong and i state my opinion in dreams. And beat him up :finger:
