First off, I'm new here! I wanted to share my experiences with Lucid dreaming.
I just discovered tonight that I've been lucidly dreaming on and off since I was a child. (I'm now 28). All this time I've been scared senseless of it though, because I never understood it until tonight after reading a bunch of articles about it. For me, lucid dreaming usually happens when I am first beginning to fall asleep. I first go into a trance-like state where I sometimes hear chanting or voices (which was SO scary to me). Then I would go into the lucid-dream state, but still be awake. I would always force myself out of this state because it scared me so much.
However, last week I had a really nice and pleasant (not to mention vivid, amazing and extremely realistic) lucid dream. I was awake because I still felt myself in bed, covers around me, and could still hear my fan blowing. The dream was good and when I forced myself out of it a few moments later (in fear, as usual), I wondered if I wasn't hallucinating or something- it was THAT real and vivid.
Then last night I was a little depressed when I went to bed, thinking about how I could change my life somehow. There I was, laying on my side, hearing my fan blowing and feeling my bed and everything around me when I slipped once again into a lucid dream. This time is was scary again- I heard a man's voice talking to me SO clearly, like he was right next to me in bed. He was talking calmly to me about how I could change my life. Then as soon as I panicked and acknowledged that the voice was a guy, a head began appearing next to me in bed. Yeah, try not being scared of THAT one.
Anyway, I forced myself out of it, freaking out. Today I started wondering if I suffer from sleep terrors or something- I've always had odd dream and sleep experiences. So finally I googled my symptoms (dreaming while awake) and discovered that I am a Lucid Dreamer...... all this time I've had this amazing thing and I've always been scared of it.
Well not anymore! I'm so excited to take advantage of this.
I'm sorry for such a long post. My questions are: 1. Why are some people so susceptible to lucid dreaming? For me apparently it is very easy and natural. 2. Anyone else have a similar experience? 3. Is Lucid dreaming truly safe?
Welcome to the forum!!
1) It is just a gift, whch means you are a natural! Excellent. And many of them sound like WILDs to me as well. Lucky!!
2) Yeah, many times. I can do it all the time!
3) Yes, LDing is 100% safe, & you cannot be affected in real time by one. Believe me, if they weren't safe, I wouldn't have lived to tell the tale!!
If you have any other questions, go on ahead & ask!!
