Thread: Goddamn Coconuts!

Heh I had a lucid dream last night which became infected by a conversation I had earlier that day with a mate, about coconuts.

When I realized I was dreaming I decided to see if I could exercise a little control and make a chocolate bar appear in my hands; Unfortunately the 'nut convo was obviously in my thoughts as instead of a chocolate bar two half coconuts appeared in my hands. I stared at them hard but they stayed as coconuts, although their shape did kind of contort. However I was walking along a road holding these two coconuts when I saw what looked like a chocolate bar on the ground. it looked much like this



except that when I bent down and picked it up I found it wasn't actually a chocolate bar but sweets in a wrapper. I felt a bit cheated, and this is about when I woke up.

Has anyone found that the more you look at far off objects the closer you get to waking up? I'm beginning to find that to keep a grip on the dream it helps to stare at a close object like the one I'm holding or my hands. I managed to make it all the way up the road even as I could feel myself being tugged back into wakefulness, just by keeping focused on my hands.

Again, I say goddamn coconuts! My mate spent a good ten minutes telling me about these special coconuts and it obviously seeped into my consciousness. I still find it fascinating how that happens.

Don't you find it great being part of something, where joining in with conversations about creating coconuts from thin air with increasing annoyance is the norm? ^_^

I find that a truly great method of 'conjuring' is reaching deep into your pockets. 100% success rate for me.

However, dreamchoc is often quite dissapointing, I find...

Focusing on your hands is a good way of staying in a dream, apparently. It was tested by LaBerge, I think.

If you don't mind losing your current location, spinning is a good method of retaining the dream, too.

I really would have liked something that translated from daily conversation existed in dreams. Coconuts might not be the best dream gift though.

I've had a couple dozen LDs, but only tried spinning for the first time last week. I did it with the idea that it would help stabilize the lucid state and it did just that. But I stayed in the same place, didn't change locations. I think that happened because I was expecting to get stabilized, and I got what I expected.

i've tried spinning in my dreams but when I start I can't stop. I prefer to rub my hands together and focus on them. that really helps me.

i'm gonna try the pockets thing, that sounds interesting. Strangely again chocolate was in a dream last night but it was a dream character who wanted it, not me.

Spinning is just so fun. Why stop? Eeeerp...
