Meeting characters from books- anyone tried?

I read in another thread that one LDer uses his lucid time to meet fictional characters from stories. Has anyone else tried it? Who have you "met" yet? Was it as cool as you'd hoped it would be?

Personally I think it would be really great and I think I'll try it out tonight with the Master Chief.

I've met Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger in a few dreams before. It was usually when I was reading the books before I fell asleep, then I'd dream about them. Sometimes I'd just hang out with them, and other times I was Harry or Hermione. Sounds childish, but I love the HP series.

A few years ago I read a book called Children of the Jedi...and then had several dreams of Luke Skywalker.

They were pretty good dreams. Only in one I became lucid and challenged Skywalker to a Force fight. Needless to say, he kicked my ass. But it was fun.

      Characters

Ohhh, I've never met any fictional characters! But I do love the Harry Potter series as well! I have met a few celebrities though. So far I've met Ricky Martin and Heath Ledger. I've had two dreams with Ricky actually. He's a lot of fun. And Heath Ledger was terribly sexy and an awesome great guy to be with!

Great question! I haven't LD'd yet, so I'm not terribly helpful, but I'd like to meet:

      Dirk Gently
      Sherlock Holmes
      Ender Wiggin
      The Kindly Man

If you know where all these characters are from, you win!

I'd like to learn the longsword from Lancelot, Sandor Clegane, Loras Tyrell, or Lan Mandragoran.

When I meet them, I'll let everyone know how it goes. =)

I've actually hit on Hermione before in a recent non-lucid dream. Didn't come to much, though! She was probably too busy being famous to return in kind, huh?! Not so much as even a peck on the cheek. Oh, well!

I've had characters from TV shows and/or movies appear in my dreams on rare occasions. I remember one (I think it's logged in my DJ here on DV) where the guys from "Everybody Loves Raymond" were in it. But I don't think that's ever happened in a lucid dream -- these were all non-lucid dreams, and I wasn't "trying" to meet them.

Hee hee: "Characters so venomous they could eat the Borgias". I've read the first in "The Song of Fire and Ice" series, and I've got the other on my shelf at the moment. Not sure I'd like to meet any of those characters though!

Would love to meet any of the Tolkien characters in a dream, but the ones that look the ones that live in my head ... I read Tolkien when I was very young and have very fond images of what they look like.

Would also like to meet Shimrod from the Jack Vance "Lyonesse" series.

Your question has flared some neurons associated with your question. I have recently read the Eyre Affair and am still reading Lost in a Good Book (sequel in the series). A big part of this series is literature and jumping into and out of the reality inside of books.

I recommend you read the Eyre Affair. It pertains to your question, and it may just be the thing that brings about your wishes. And if you actually do jump into a book, then please tell us

All of these have been non-lucid, but I've also met Harry, Ron, and Hermione... no magic, though. And I'm not ashamed to consider myself a hug HP fan ... but I was bawling towards the end of the last one...

I've also met Aslan, and actually I became lucid because of him because I knew I'd never see him in real life and I wanted to meet him in a dream so badly. I didn't do anything with the dream, though, because I was exactly where I'd wanted to be. He was actually in two halfs and told me that he had been divided. I'm still trying to work that one out.

I've got a whole list of people I want to meet, though. Some to just spend time with, some to learn from, and others to kick the crap out of because I hate them so much!

I've had a few dreams with HP characters, but they were all non-lucid. I did have one with emma watson. Just ran around doing stuff for her. Didn't come to much.

I've met characters from my own stories a fair bit, but that's hardly surprising, as a lot of them are based on random dream characters. Those I have invented from scratch do not appear half so much as I would like them to. There's a particular character I really want to meet, but who has so far proved to be quite elusive. I'll yet you know if I succeed.

I occasionally have very realistic dreams when I'm in a Star Trek episode (my Dad's fault, he's the fan, not me). In the Next Gen I'm the last of an alien race that is closely related to Q's. Q hates me, Guinan has sort of adopted me and Picard is tearing out what little hair he has left trying to figure out what to do with me. In DS9, I'm not a shapeshifter per se, but I do shapeshift, and naturally Odo and I have a rapport. I like Quark too, but the rest of the crew and the general atmosphere on the station I find extremely threatening.

Oh, I've had about two dreams set in the Harry Potter universe too. Not being a Harry Potter fan, these dreams mostly consisted of me either ignoring Harry and co as complete magical amateurs, or else mercilessly mocking them for having to rely on a broomstick to fly. They couldn't even shapeshift. Pff!

Yes, It's happened to me many times. One time I remember clearly, when I was a child, I watched a movie called "Bronco Billy". that night I had a long dream that lasted all night in which I was the main girl from the movie. Everything that happened in the movie happened to me, but I could control all the events by the results of my choices and actions.
