You are awake in your dream.
      Ponder that thought

You know you are dreaming and can control many things. It's also more real than a normal dream. When you wake up, it's like a real memory from the past.

It's important to distinguish between lucidity and controll. Being aware that you are dreaming does not neccessarily mean that you have any controll over the dream, you can usually controll your own actions in it but that is not what defines lucidity. An LD is simply a dream where you are concious at the time.

To answer you question, their the exact same thing. The only difference between the two is that you know your dreaming while your still dreaming. Normally you remeber them a lot better so they tend to be more vivid and such but that is not always the case.

It is also possible to have a lucid dream and then forget it. Basicly if at any time you think to yourself "this is a dream" then its a lucid dream.
