Panicking in Lucid Dreams

Very often when i realise im in a dream i seriously panic i scream and shout and shake my head to try get out of it, and like nearly have a heartattack theres only been a few occasions when i think 'Yay im lucid, im going to have some fun'. -Why does this happen,why am i afraid of being in a dream. Has it happened to you?

never happened to me...i'm always just excited to be lucid. although a few times the strangeness of it all has been a little wierd, though never frightening. maybe it frightens you that everything around you is so removed from 'reality' as you normally conceive it, and this is more than you can handle sometimes? maybe it would help if as many times as possible you survey your surroundings while awake...say to yourself "i am alive, and conscious. everything around me that i am experiencing in this big sea of energy called the universe is filtered, processed, adn ultimately created by my mind. the same mind that creates my dreams while i am asleep, whether lucid or not. as long as i am aware, it means my body is safe and healthy, my mind is sane, and if i am aware like this in a dream, it only means i can potentially do anything i've always wanted to...." the more you say this and absorb it (and there's no reason not to trust that it is true) the less chance you'll find yourself panicking when you gain lucidity. *shrugs* lucid dreams can be a little disconcerting, but they are completely safe. more 'wierd' than anything. hope you get past this stage (i know you will), and start enjoying ALL your lucid dreams happy dreaming

I've gotten so excited that I woke up. But never afraid. I'm sure you'll get past this "stage" (Like Ash said...can I call you Ash? lol)

Has it happened to you? It could be that you could be having night-terrors. I know, b/c a few times I have done that in a certain room in my house, I usually do that, then bolt straight up, and can remember nothing (often times, becoming confused). Or maybe it is because you are stressed out during the day? Sometimes I stress out for no reason at all if that happens. The solution? Try to relax a little, and once you realize you are dreaming, say to yourself, "I am not going to be afraid. I will seek council from a Dream Guide." Oh, and sorry for not responding to this earlier...I was feeling a bit weird.

It could be night terrors but those are more common to be found with ''younger children''. Well if you think it is (and the remedy for younger kids I read is real and works). Try waking up (set an alarm) sometime before you panic. (eg.: you panic and wake and it's 4:15, set your alarm at 4:00) However this of course: only works if you happen (by incident or something else) panic at a certain time all the time. So when you wake up, check the time, if it's the same it might work for you.

Sometimes, I don't like panic panic, but one time I was put in jail in a lucid dream and I was like ok no big deal I just bend the bars and get out but I couldnt bend the bars I tryed like teleporting out of it and everything! So I think dream control goes to crap if you panic during a lucid dream. And I did get out eventually when I found out the jail didn't have a roof and I colud fly out, lol...

I reject my character, and substitute my own. That's how come I never panic during a dream. For in a dream, I am not ''Myself". I am the created image of myself, implemented into dreams. Don't ask how the hell I managed to do that, I just did, sometime when I was younger. (Not that i'm not young now). Maybe it's my immense imagination that allowed me to ''program'' my dream before sleep? No idea, in any case, Katie, do the panics happen at the same time? (Like I asked before ) Or maybe, just maybe (This is just a theory though), you have an unconscious fear of something, not sure what it should be (it could be basically anything, fear of something physical or fear of a certain situation). Try to find that out.
