Lucid Dream? YES! I hope so..

Last night i posted a new topic on the newbie forum.. saying that after practicing for almost a month i hadnt had a single Lucid Dream. Pretty weird but i did tonight, same night i started complaining!

I atleast think it was a lucid dream.. and hope so.

When i woke up i didnt remember so much of the dream but i remember the most important things that happened and i wrote it down.

I was in a room with a blue smiley in front of me that was as big as a football. I just decided to do a reality check since i do that very often i had no idea in the dream why i weas doing the reality check but i did. I turned away from the smiley, and when i looked at it again it had turned a little bit red and was angry instead of smiling! I immediately realized that i was dreaming. But then i dont remember more.. I either got distracted by something or woke up. Dont know. I dont think i got too excited about it in the dream.. didnt realize how important it was to me, realizing that i was dreaming. Nothing in the dream was clear, and i wasnt thinking very straight but i did realize that i was dreaming. so was this a lucid dream? Is it possible to just dream that i have a lucid dream?

Anyways.. to you guys out there who are experienced with these things, how OFTEN do you have Lucid Dreams?
Some people you just have to beat up till they understand.

Yes, you had a lucid dream. Too bad it got ruined. I know how it feels. I had two lucid dreams destroyed due to being disturbed in my sleep.

It was a lucid dream. It appears that you were at a low level of lucidity (yes, there are different levels). The same thing has happened to me, I'll be aware that I'm dreaming, but I won't think much of it, but then my brain will kind of switch gears from "Yeah, I'm dreaming, so what" to "Wait a minute, I'm in a lucid dream right now." That would be me moving from low-level lucidity to high-level lucidity, which is when the fun starts .

Also, it's very common for beginners to either wake up or lose lucidity very shortly after becoming lucid.

congrats on your lucid . personally i break mine down into low, medium, and high level lucids (depending on how aware i am that i am dreaming). one of the biggest misconceptions about lucids is that every one is crystal clear and you have unbroken awareness. there are different levels of lucidity while dreaming, just as there are different levels while awake.

my first lucid lasted all of 2 seconds, and alot of my first ones were pretty vague and short. keep trying, you know you can do it now, its just a matter of practice

happy dreaming, and i'm glad your hard work is starting to pay off now..

This is how i class it myself:

Low lucidity: You say to yourself that you're dreaming, but it doesn't have much of an effect on the dream.

Medium lucidity: You realise that you can alter some parts of the dream, and are aware that not all your actions will have consequences.

High lucidity: you know that you are in fact in your bed dreaming and that everything around you is false, often you have a lot of control over what happens around you/to you.

I've had a handful of low, a handful of medium, and two specific high LD's. A link to my best one is here if you want to find out how much you can achieve with high lucidity.
