      Lucid Immolation

Perhaps a slight misnomer. Let me explain: It may or may not seem like a blessing to those of you who have been, or actively try to lucid dream, but the fact is, I can't NOT lucid dream. Does anyone find this wierd? I either do not dream (or remember them) or I lucid dream, 100%, full blown total control.

This occurs almost ever other night, and I feel as if my days are longer because of it. Usually, I'm not lucid imediately, but only seconds into the dream, it hits me like a ton of bricks. Allmost any inconsistency in my dream serves as an instant reality check.

I've always been like this, but up until recently, I didn't even know what a lucid dream was, I thught it was normal to dream the way I do. Go figure.

Anyway, more to the topic, last night I had a really interesting lucid dream. In my home town, it stormed incredibly, and my dream reflected it. When I became aware and began to dream, I was in a field and it was the absolute pinnacle of storms right smack dab on top of me.

I had a blast, to say the least. Generally I play in whatever environment is available when I dream, unless it is just too wierd for me, then I'll cange it. Otherwise, as in this dream, I'll just hang out and see what there is to see, kind of like a God from anceint Greece just chillin with the rest of creation. Most of the time I just observe in tese dreams, and manipulate things as I see fit, and try to provoke entertaining situations.

Anyone ever heard of people who just lucid dream by default? I haven't been able to find anyone else that does this, and I'm curious to talk to someone.
"If you can ask yourself, 'Hey man, are you there?'
and you reply, 'Yeah, I'm here' then everything is okay, until then, whatever it is is ultimately trivial."

For me, you are an utmost enviable person!
Can you remember yourself as always dreaming lucid or has it started with an unusual event or special experience?

All my LDs are either DILDs or accidental WBTBs. I've had LDs all my life, before I even knew what an LD was. I commonly have LDs, but can less commonly exert a lot of control over them. I usually have a low to medium degree of control in my LDs, and I've never had total control (i.e. change landscape or location, etc.) - but I'm working on it.

I think there are a lot of naturals on this forum - I'd be curious to know what percentage of our members commonly have "natural" LDs.

Okay, see, at first when I read this, I instinctively felt envious. "Wow! Lucid Dreaming by default? Perfect control? And he doesn't even have to work at it?" I, of course, haven't had a single LD yet, and it's pretty much my number one aspiration at the moment.

But then I stopped and thought... Okay, Lucid Dreams by default... that's cool... BUT.

I like my non-lucid dreams... I like having random shit happen to me, and trying to fgure it out later. And furthermore, I like to have nights which are occaisionally uninterupted by dreams, lucid or otherwise. (Of course, this still doesn't change the fact that I REALLY want to have LD's as well!)

So, maybe, if you can't turn your natural LD-ing "off", it occurs to me that non-Naturals may actually have an advantage in this respect... despite having to work a hell of a lot harder, we may end up with more control over our dreaming than naturals ever can, in the sense that we can turn on and turn off our dreaming (or at least, our dream recall), and may be able to do the same with our lucidity as well.

Or then again, perhaps I'm just desperately grasping after an argument that will abate my irrepresable jealousy... Meh.

Yeah, I kind of like having non lucids once in awhile. Though I love LDs, I also love dreams in which my subconscious fabricates everything and I have no choice but to be subjugated to the whims of my own imagination. Variety is the spice of life and if I LDed every night, there would be no variety.
