spinning into a dark void(for experts only)

      Hi all,
I have a reoccurring exprience which I can't figure out on my own. I am getting relaxed before sleep, and after a while when I'm deeply relaxed but fully conscious(eyes closed), i'm suddenly feel that I begin to spin - horizantly, like still on my back, but either i'm spinning or the world spins around me. I can reject it for a while, but then I decide to go with the spin - next I feel like my consciousness deepens and deepens, like I see thing from deeper and deeper inside of me(nothing creepy), it's like my mind eyes are looking now from 10, 20 ft. inside me(of course Im not that Fat). then there is a dark void, and i'm in it. looking at nothing, and basicly, do not feel somthing special. just looking at the dark. What is this expirience? is this a reguler "getting into a dream" expirience? should I do or think somthing while i'm in the dark? anyone had a similar expirience? Thank you for The Help,
      Nir

Hey there and welcome to the forum!!

It sounds like the Trans state of a LD technique called WILD. It can be regular for some people, and you don't have to do anything right then. And before you ask, I do this everynight, so I know!
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

That sounds like my experience of sleep paralysis. The description of looking from 10 ft inside of yourself is exactly what happens to me (and I have SP quite often). Have you tried to move in this state? if you can't move then it is definitly SP. Once you are in this state you can quite easily train yourself to enter the dream world. Just imagine that you roll over, you will suddenly find that you are moving and most likely (in my experience) fall off the bed. This is of course your dream body, everything around you will be a dream so don't forget to RC straight away or you may find yourself in a non-lucid dream.
      Hope this helps
      Are you dreaming or awake?

haha, i'm glad i'm not the only one. i've had many a successful WILD begin by unceremoniously sprawling onto a dreamfloor

oh, and i've had this spinning sensation very strongly once (it increased until i felt like i was spinning dozens of times per second, my body horizontal, an inch or two above my bed.

had the 'deep void' sensation as well. SP IMO.

The spinning feeling is exactly what I have experienced a few times (http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27010) and I've done it a couple of times in bed too, but I end up getting excited and I lose the feeling.

I'm glad that this is at least not uncommon.

I'd like to try the rolling over technique when it next happens to me, but I hope I don't fall off as it's about a 4 foot drop to the floor, and would probably wake me up (if I was dreaming).

thank you for all the replys,
It makes more sense to me now, though I still dont undersand the spinning factor.
Wombing, you are right...the spinning increases to be very very fast, it's even a little scary, it's only when I accept it completly that I find myself in the dark.
AnonymousTipster, don't try the roll over until you have gone past the spinning stage, or I think it would just increase the spinning velocity. when I try to raise my head a bit during the spinning, it increases as well, like in order to "lock" me inside the spinning. accept the feeling first, reach the dark place(SP as Ubik points out) and then follow his directions.
      Thank you again

The blackness (void) you experience has happened to me many many times. It can occur while dreaming then becoming lucid, it can also happen when you have an out of body (OOBE) experience. Generally speaking if you spin while in the blackness you will either 1. change dreams or 2. cause yourself to wake up.

My recommendation is to not spin when you see a black void. Instead try getting up and walking (or floating/simply moving), seeking out any particular speck of light, then it will lead you to a regular dream scene. At that point if you have trouble keeping lucidity, simply spin or change dreams by pointing at an object for a long period.

To me, the dark void is just a no mans land of sorts, a crack in the wall where you sometimes find yourself or get stuck in and you simply need to move your perception to a dream space. The few times when I experienced a different kind of blackness was when their was lines (fibers) of energy inside a black void. I consider that to be a different sort of perception.
