      Lucid last night

Well first off I would like to say I have been trying lucid dreaming for about a couple weeks and lurking these forums for a little while and finnaly decided to sign up today, so hello!
Anyway last night I was dreaming and in the dream I was walking through a park and I came up to a shifty looking plank bridge over a river, I started to walk over it and I realised that this was ridiculously dangerous and I would never have tried to cross in real life, then I remember clearly thinking to myself, well this has to be a dream, "watch the next step I take the board will break and I will fall", and of course It did and I fell, but I didint land in water I landed in sand for some reason, but at this point I knew I was dreaming and I was excited that I was lucid, I guess a little too excited because the next thing I know I was laying in my bed. I wish I could have held on a little longer but atleast I was lucid for a little bit, next time I have to try to hold my excitement so I dont wake up so fast.

      Hi, and welcome to dreamviews.

Your experiance sounds alot like most other peoples first few lucids, including mine. But now that you've had one, your next one you have, you won't have as big of an initial shock that your dreaming, so you shouldn't become AS excited as before.

One thing I suggest you start doing though, is do reality checks whenever you wake up, because alot of the time, when you think you've woken up from a Lucid Dream, you actually only had a false awakening, and are still asleep.

Anyways, hopefully you'll have more, and If you have any questions, feel free send me a message on here or AIM, i'll be happy to help.

I agree with Kastro's advice. LDing just takes practice. Many people get excited and wake up as soon as they realize they're lucid. But the more techniques you try, and the more you utilize your dream journal, the more LDs you'll have - and hopefully will start being able to hold on to them for longer periods of time. Many people need to quickly stabilize the LD by looking at their hands, or leaning against a wall and taking a few breaths, before attempting anything else.

Anyway, basically you'll get better with practice.
