On the verge of Lucid Dreaming?

Last night, I seriously think I was on the verge of dreaming. I took notes after I left my "semi-dream sequence" and here's what I have. 12:18 AM- I laid down to practice a few relaxation techniques, I had just read on the forums. Basicly, just laying in my dark bedroom, staring off into space, and clearing my thoughts while trying to achieve Dream Paralysis. Eventually, I achieve what I think was complete paralysis. Then, my vision blurred as I stared at my bedroom window. Suddenly, lights flashed before my eyes and I started to hear voices, just random conversations that I had experienced throughout the day, but I couldn't make out what was being said. I saw the people who were talking, but their voices were indecipherable. Soon the window I was staring at became distorted, and my room seemed to slightly shift and the walls looked like they were metal. I felt heavy for a second and then I began to lift up off of my bed a little. This is the point where I tried to think of things I wanted to do like fly through the ceiling, but I never got far enough from my bed. Then, I saw faint images of things flying through the air, I couldn't make out what they were. By now I had become afraid, and my heart strted to beat really fast. So, I could feel the dream dissapating, but I tried to hold on to my dream-state. So I got out of bed and turned on the light and I was back in my room holding the light switch. So I'm confused, did I actually have a semi-lucid dream or was I just imagining it. And is it possible to turn on a light in a lucid dream without it dissapating. Keep in mind this was a WILD and this was my first time trying to attempt LDing,

Sounds like you may have been going through the hypnagognic imagery. Pretty good for your very first WILD attempt! Keep working at it.

It sounds like you are doing very, very well in your attempts. Keep at it. It won't be long before you have an LD.
