Shocking Experience - Dreams too real?

Last night, after a long wait, I had my 3rd lucid dream, but it was rather an odd one.
I was in my room, it all seemed really realistic. I did an RC and found that I counted 6 fingers, and I thought ‘that’s odd, because i’m in reality right now’. I then (as a test) tried to telekinetically pick up a pen, which I could just about do. I still believed that I was in reality because the dream was so real, so I decided that I must be hallucinating, and I’d better not try anything silly.

When I woke up, I almost discounted it as a dream because it seemed so stunningly real. I had always expected my dreams to be blurry, until I consciously make them more real (eg by shouting).

Yup, some dreams are more vivid and real than others. I find that dreams where I have particularly strong emotions feel more real, and sometimes I'm confused when I wake up because I was absolutely convinced the dream was real.

that dream sounds fun, the more real they feel, the better. i had a small dream last night that felt so real, its sorta silly. my dream was that someone texted me on my phone and said he wanted to meet for lunch ( i had texted him that day ) i remember opening my eyes, lookin at the phone, all teh details perfectly. then i few hours later i woke up, and was so confused. i really truly thought that dream was real, and in my dream i started planning on where we could have lunch. woke up, the phone wasnt near me, nor was there a text. strange, sort of funny in a way.. and a let down at the same time haha!

I have had many similar experiences.
I was once talking to a DC, when 'boom' everything became extremely vivid (almost to the point of it being uncomfortable and more realistic than reality) I began staring at the creases on the DCs face and was astonished at how intricate everything was, yet I was in my own mind.
I'd strogly suggest taking time to simply experience an LD, it can be more exhilirating than flying or --------- (insert dream action here )
      Are you dreaming or awake?

Hopefully I can have another lucid soon and explore this realism further. First thing I want is hearing.....I've never been able to hear in dreams, it's always been telepathic, so instead of hearing someone, I just know what they're saying. Passive hearing, i suppose.

Another thing I find interesting about dreams is how one tiny thought can remind you of an entire dream you'd forgotten. Like, today in the car I made a popping noise with my mouth (out of boredom), and an entire dream I had last night rushed into my mind, I was quite taken aback when all the synapses fired in order like that.....kind of spooky.

Happens to me a ton! I'll be walking home from school and I'll see a car that was in my dream and poof, I remember my dream just like that. Sometimes certain words trigger it for me during that day. Strange how such simple things can trigger whole memories.

      Stillness

I agree. There is power in stillness.

Some of my dreams seem very real, and thats why I love them. Some times my dreams are indistinguishable from reality, every thing works prefectly. Not a single glitch in the physics or anything.

It's quite fascinating. I've had a few dreams in which I was pretty sure I was awake, but then toward the end I would decide to do a reality check for some reason, "just in case," and be quite surprised to find that I was dreaming.

Nearly all of my lucid dreams are like that. In fact, I've never been able to become lucid in any dream that was very blurry. When I become lucid it's nearly always because something strange-but-not-impossible happened.
In one dream, for instance, I realized I was dreaming because I'd forgotten the name of a friend of mine, while i'd been shifting locations without noticing and was seeing my face all blurry in a mirror just moments before that, which didn't affect me all.

In other words, when I become lucid, I'm always surprised about how convinced I was that I couldn't be dreaming. The surprise of becoming lucid itself, of course, decreases, so that I'd hardly be surprised if I turned out to be dreaming if I did a RC right now (which isn't the case, I just tried )

That happens to me a lot, sometimes I'll wake up remembering absolutely nothing, then it will come back to me suddenly at a later time.

This morning I was having breakfast when i remembered, so I ran back upstairs to write in in my DJ before i forgot!

I wish my dreams were that real

I have had Lucid’s that were so real I carried out the dream as if it was another day in my life. It became completely Lucid once I saw a Panzer tank rolling down my street, guns-a-blazing.

I was only lucid for the split second after I did the RC, and thought "I'm dreaming", but at that point I looked up from my check and upon seeing the clarity of the world, convinced myself otherwise.

I have been thinking about something similar to this recently, about whether I have ever been properly conscious in a dream.....but that's for another thread.

It would be nice to have an ultra-realistic dream where you create your own scenery and characters. That is one goal of mine for LDing.

Here's a really good book, or author, to read for that matter. Read anything by Carlos Casteneda. And, specifically, read the book, The Art of Dreaming. I Am working on recreating reality as a functioning whole in my dreams. Its part of several religious ideas that I'm looking into that deal with dreaming (Shamanism).

Anyhow, I've got time control down, and I'm hammering out oddities. My life seems almost twice as long, and I can't wait till I can set it so I can't distinguish dream from waking state, other than the obvious transitional phases. I'll not go into the specifiics, but if you can get ahold of these books, by all means, if just for fun, read them.

They're good instructional/adventure books. If you read them all, they're supposed to be lessons in shamanism, though you have to read between the realities to get it.

Hope you like them, they're really handy.

The first serious LD I had was just like this. I've posted it somewhere...was the first post i ever made on this forum actually. Anyhow, I began the dream consciously aware that I was weaving a dream. From there on afterward I created an entire beach with boats and sand and waves and all that. I remember telling myself to just "see" the things I wanted to see, and gradually they faded into view. It was the best LD I've ever had actually. Good luck in your proceedings.

      Reality checks

I remember one dream where I was walking down the road in my town, and the light was very orange, like the sunset on a melancholy sunday afternoon. I had nothing on my mind, and I was just walking home thinking everything was real. I'm trying to train myself to do random reality checks in real life, so it popped into my head here, but I was sure that I wasn't dreaming. I tried it anyway, what I did was a little hop off the ground. Much to my surprise, the little hop turned into a 30 foot vertical leap onto a warehouse roof.

I have also found that I have been scared in my dream, even though I was lucid and I could fly and everything, someone was flying after me trying to hurt me, and I was scared of him. Even though I knew I could do anything I wanted to get rid of him, I was still scared. It was a strange experience.

repetition as a learning tool in LDs

You can be in a dream that has such real content that it is very difficult to determine if you are dreaming.
If you can determine if you are dreaming then you are engaging in a lucid dream. But I agree with you that if you never know, then you were never actually lucid.

What is scary is if you become lucid and the dream scene remains stable and you can't seem to UN control things. (A turn around from the norm) It does sound asinine and I have argued with many about this. I believe because they have never experience it, that they will never understand. But what ever... Rolling Eyes

In retrospect if this occurs ever again, I am going to use this tool as a learning mechanism.
Such a stable environment I will administer something "left brain" oriented. Chess, golf, guitar, math ...Something. Bring it on mind. It's all me!
