      First LD, I think

Ok, my friend showed me this site yesterday and I started to do reality checks throughout the day. Then, I went to bed (dreamed of getting in a fight, won by the way) and then suddeny I was like, "I think I'm in a dream" then BAM! reality check then BAM! oh sweet this is a dream! then BAM! I got too excited felt myself vibrate and everything faded to black and I woke up...

...or so it seemed, I'm not sure If I woke up or it was a false awakening, things appeared different but I'm not sure if that was when I went back to sleep or it was part of my dream.

Anyways, one thing I'm wondering if this could be because i was thinking of LDs and my dream was a dream of me having a lucid instead of a real one, but then if I dream of having a lucid is that one?

Anyways the whole thing lasted about a second before I "woke up".

      BTW, what was the vibrating?

Nice! First of all, welcome to DV!

Sounds to me like you had a lucid dream. When I had my first few I also woke up very quickly from getting excited, its fairly common in the beginning. Just try to stay calm if you realize you're dreaming.

As far as the vibration, that may have had something to do with sleep paralysis (SP). When we fall into deep sleep, our body is paralyzed. It is possible for a person to wake up and still be in SP. During the stage of SP, you also start having some sort of Hypnagogic Imagery (HI), which is pretty much the beginning of the transition from awake to dreaming. That may explain why things look different. There are lots of info on both SP and HI here on this site... you should check it out, its pretty neat!

I don't know though, it may very well have been a dream inside a dream. If something like that happens again, be sure to do a reality check when you wake up. Especially if something looks weird.

As far as if dreaming about having an LD is really an LD, it is if you know that you really are dreaming. Once I had a dream that I was laying in bed and a friend was helping me to LD... that dream wasn't really lucid since I never quite realized I was dreaming, never realized that my physical body was asleep, in my room, on my bed.

      Hope that helps.

... Since that first experience I decided that I'd see if I could get another one the next night (Iknow thats uncommon and unlikely), anyways, it was weird, basically I dreamed about doing reality checks and I ended up coming to the conclusion that I was not in a dream, it wasn't taht I was doing a RC to test my dream, I was dreaming of RC. It ended up with me struggling to make myself believe I was in a dream that just felt like my mind was pushing against nothing to make nothing move... ya know? Anyways it wasn't like I was actually trying to convince my self, It felt more like my dream was that I was... I think.

Anyways, I wonder how I could come to that conclusion when I was in a cage with zombies appearing infront of me... definately not a dream there (sarcasm).
