That's interesting...The only thing I can come up with is that back when you were 7 your mind was free and not bogged down by the real world, and now that your older too much is going on upstaires for you to just let go. I guess do things that calm your mind before bed.....I'm one to talk because I should meditate more and I dont, but also read some of the other posts with techniques people use like reality checks that can help.

Yeah, I would also recommend relaxation. There was a time in my life where I tried to induce a lucid dream. I knew nothing about it at the time, but apparently what I did would be known as the WILD technique, which basically involves trying to stay conscious as you drift into sleep. It worked, and that is the only lucid dream I have ever had. It was very chaotic, and mostly revolved around sex(wasn't getting laid then(or now for that matter)). It was awesome though. Now, the only reason I can think that it might have worked is that at the time that it happened, I pretty much didn't care about anything. I mean, at least not the point of letting anything cause me discomfort. Unfortunately, I've only been in a state like that in my life a few times, and I fear it may be a long time before I become lucid again, especially since my reason for being (my ex girl) left me and... stuff...

Well I used to practice astral project. But I never could get anywhere. I would always just fall asleep. And now I have no time to practice this. I just want to lucide dream to experiment. And see if it's possible to astral project from there. I mean im sure it's possible. But I wouldn't know how. Anyways, I will try what you said. But if you got anything eles that might help please tell. Oh yeah, I have heard that some drugs will help you achive astral project or lucide dreams. But it's bad for you or something like that.

      Hey everyone -

I've read the posts on the WILD technique and have a few questions:

First, and most obvious: how do you stay awake while trying to fall asleep? Doesn't make sense to me.

      What do you think about?

Has anyone here actually done this successfully on a consistent basis?

There are a couple of threads going over techniques and such, yeah it is strange to think, trying to stay awake while falling asleep at the same time is weird, but I t does work, the methods I suggested seem to work well for me, it is triky though when you begin to drift off thats the hardest part, remaining focused and consious.
Like I've said in the other threads, the WILD's ones in the general forum
I give myself a task, like walking along a forest path, I let my imagination come up with the path, but I focus on walking about every step about what I am imagining I am seeing smelling hearing, or walking up stairs, a stone spiral staircase is usualy my fav choice, visualise every movement you must take your hand running along the banister, how many stepsyou are taking with each movement of your leg is ther anything on the walls? the patterns in the marble.., stuff like that.

Or if you are into Martial arts put yourself in a setting and go over some of your kata, imagine it as vividly as you possibly can, evrey movement the feeling of your muscles and tendons.

Now about falling asleep this doenst really work well if your not all that tired as you are just going to keep yourself up. It works bes when you are beat tired, you will find that while you are focusing on all that stuff your mind will start to drift, your starting to fall asleep now, keep your body still, and keep trying to focus on the task at hand, let some of the drifting take you though, if perhaps you find youve come to the end of the stairs, see where it goes, let your imagination work for you but again you must remain aware of your surroundings of what you are experiencing.

It may take a couple of tries on separate night but you will eventually build up the focus needed to keep yourself consious as you pass into the dream world... and that is one of the most amazing parts, an explosion of senses it feels like experiencing life for the first time.

Do you actually do WILD when you got to bed for the night?

Can you hop in bed and do this, I mean? It puts you into a "regular" sleep pattern for the night? Or is it just a lucid dream starter?

I do it sometimes, I almost always lucid dream but sometimes I get confused and think the dream is real due to reality checks not working for me, I use WILD as a surefire way so that I am completely aware that I am dreaming

Kevin dont mess with drugs for that reason alone. Just stick with meditation, unfortuantly these things do take time so you will have to try and squeeze it in.

But you'll get a good night's rest from it? Does your body still go through the 5-6 hours of non-REM and non-dream sleep first?

This forum is great...it's like a drive-thru for my questions...post it now, answered five minutes later. At least tonight.

hehe im typicaly on now.. im at work, pretending to werk...

Yeap it does not mess with my sleep patterns, then again I cant say much for my sleep patterns i work nights and so ...I dont really have a sleep pattern I also get the whole physical rest thing but my mind is not as rested I am consious most of the time so its pesky but at the same time a gift , its nice to just drop off into unconsiousness every once in a while though

      hardly working...

      Intel.

I make those chips that run your puters.
My factory is actually the only one that has been able to make the 3.2 ghz launch possible... we actually have gotten a buncha 3.4 stuff made.

Which brings me to another subject....

We arent designing the chips any more.

This is not conspiracy crap, I work here I see it...

Think of the logistics of cramming 55million transistors into a space no bigger than your fingernail...take also into account that it takes 6 layers of interconnecting metal lines to make it all work together

No human or group of humans could accomplish this feat unless given quite alot of time... more than we have hehe

So, the faster computers we build are designing the newer faster chips...

Looking at these chips under magnification... some of the areas like the memory fields are weird looking, it dosent look right I guess what Im trying to get at is that a human wouldent have come up with desinging it in the way that it is... and its not all right angles and hard lines...This stuff looks organic, curves, flowing, amazingly complex crap.

I think they could be compared to a viral or simple microorganism in terms of evolution... We ae currently working on radios built into the chips themselves too along with MEMS Micro electronic machines, turbines pumps, weird stuff ... Sounds all science fictiony but its all being made now
