      Alcohol & It's effects on my LD's

First off, before last night I was only able to become lucid for a total of 4 or 5 times max, even since I was a little kid (the ones I can remememer, mind you). Even then, once I learned about dream conrol and how to enhance your ability for it, my lucid dreams did not last long as the excitement of finally becoming lucid usually kicked in shortly and I would wake myself up. This however, was not the case last night.

Yesterday was my graduation party, and needless to say many alcoholic beverages were consumed. The party didn't last tat long, and I ended up going to bed around 12-1 a.m. Later on I woke up around 3:30, and remembering no dreams(my recall is not the best anyways, so I didn't find this too peculiar) and I was almost unable to get back to sleep. It has been a usual thing when I drink that after the initial pass out on my bed, if I wake up during the night it's very hard for me to go back to sleep. So I turn on the t.v., and scan the internet a little bit to try to ease my mind or something. Finally, at around 5:30-6ish I am able to fall asleep.

Now this is where the fun begins. A total of around 5 lucids, not completely remembering all of them but I was amazed at how many I had. My guess after scanning the site a little bit would be that I was going through REM rebound. After every lucid I would wake up, then very shortly fall back to sleep and be in yet another lucid, doing the nose plug test(Have no idea of how I remembered to do this, but I did) every now and then to make sure I was still sleeping). And with these dreams, I had no problem whatsoever in staying asleep, except when coming close to orgasm in one.

My dreams consisted of flying off of buildings, leaping off the ground higher than the trees than gliding down, having sex with a girl I've been after, fighting people I didn't like until their insides somehow turned into straw like a scarecrow, and telling family members to remember me talking to them in a dream when they wake up.

Probably the oddest one though would have to be one where I was following a guy throughout a series of hallways. I forget exactly what he was saying, but we were talking about how I was able to lucid, and dream control. I remember the walls almost being made out of a blue marble with little bits of white in it, and offices every so often as we passed. The only thing I remember the man saying is that the lucids will only last for around 4 or 5 minutes. We finally come to an end inside his office. He continues talking, but then sees that I am going to wake up. He tells me, and I already feel it happening, and then waking up becomes a reality.

Now all in all, these experiences to me were quite amazing, and is something to talk about for a long time to come. I couldn't believe how many LD's I had, and I believe that the alcohol had a huge part in it. I also had more dreams(usually leading off the LD's, or before the LD's) but nothing as intense as the LD's ofcourse.

Has anyone else experiences some of the same affects from alcohol?
And since I had so many LD's last night, does anyone think that it will be a lot easier for me now to become lucid even if not drinking?

      alcohol

hi - am new here. Tht i would aomment on the alcohol effects. one of my first Ld's (before I knew about lds) was after a weekend of binging in mexico. Was pretty intense, also the next coupla times was also after 2-3 days of drinking. I have achieved lucidity without alcohol since but not as intense. Been reading in this forum and other places that alcohol reduces chances of lucidity , but is it possible that it could have the reverse effect on some people - experts ?? anyone else experience this

It was always my understanding that alcohol and other depressants diminished the REM cycle and could cause it to be skipped over totally. I read once that one hungover night of no dream periods causes a 'catch up' night later. Maybe your catch up night was just later that morning. So the moral is: Get hammered one night, then get ready for lucidity the next. Hah.

That's not to mention, Cress, that you used the WBTB method.
