      Why?

      Friday morning(well, in the night),
after waking up and falling back asleep several times.. In my dream, I found out something was impossible(I don't remember what).. so I was like.. It's a dream! and I started screaming around I'm in a dream! I was doing backflips in the air and I felt I was losing my lucidity so I tried spinning like some ppl said on this forum.. It worked for some seconds then I saw all red and I woke up.Why spinning didn't work?

      Eh....

My Theory: They tell you to spin because they SAY that it stimulates ... something ... and changes your dream. Well, I think that if you beleive it and EXPECT it to work, then it WILL work. If you are like, eh... I'll try it anyways even though I know it won't work... then it won't work!! You probably didn't expect it to work.

Well, dont scream it's a dream! I used to do the same and ruined 3 good LDs! I was kinda like "kicked out" of lucidity. I experienced the whole world shake and I was caught in a loop. In about 5-10 seconds, dream ended.
Now I hardly ever even say "It's a dream", I just know it.

Believing in spinning works really well.

Yeah Usually if you get a little too excited then that spinning technique is not going to do diddly squat for you. Also sometimes it doesn't work for some people. Everyones different. Try a handstand but remain focuse because when you do this next time you're gonna' float. The object here is to throw your sense off. By doing this rather spinning or doing something else manipulated from the real world your conscious mind is trying to incorporate that effect in regards to what you should be experiencing if you did this. But of course you do not get dizzy and if you do a handstand the blood doesn't rush to your head. What you are doing is throwing your axes off. This effect helps you maintain your dream longer. Its kinda like your conscious is waking you up but now you're telling it "Hey Wait Look over here you should be working this out over here try to incoporate the feeling of dizziness"Now the focuse lies somewhere else thus longer dream periods are initiated. Maybe you wasn't spinning good enough. Next time try Jumping into the air and spinning. Great Example, did you See Matrix Reloaded? Remember when Neo was fighting those 100's of Agent Smiths? Neo grabbed a pole Jumped about 50 feet into the air and spinned so fast that they put it in bullet time just so you can see him doing it. Try that out. BE NEO!

I want to be like Neo!!!!!

Anyway, Shadow, what you said makes perfect sense and I will try it when I get the chance. It does sound a lot more interesting than spinning.
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
