I was wondering if anyone else besides me had the idea to study while lucid. If so, has anyone been successful?

      hrm... depends

      like study as in research?

      * Merlock wonders how one would go about carrying a text book into a dream.

but sometimes I get ideas in dreams for making stuff, if that's what you're talking about. Like I get solutions for problems in my dream and then wake up and try it and it works if that's what you're talking about.

Nope. I mean like study for exams. If you just look at something once, its in your head forever. So it should be possible to review anything you've seen. Right?

That is a really good idea hun, although wouldn't it depend on how good your dream recall was. If you had really good dream recall, then this would be a really good thing to do. But, if your dream recall was not that good, then you may forget things when you get to the exam.
Also, dreaming and lucid dreaming is a time to relax and to switch off from the daily routines of life. If you are studying in the day and in your dreams also, you may make yourself physically tired, and this is not good before an exam.

If you don't have exams though, it would be interesting to try it out and see just how much you can actually recall from it.

This idea is great, i've been studying for exams lately and i've thought about it, but i'm not sure how you'd manage to study properly, i've heard it's hard to read in lucid dreams and stuff, so I'm not sure how i'd study.

I've been looking for a way to use my lucid dreams to benefit and help me in real life and this would be a good way if it were possible.

i have tried but when i get into my dreams i find i have better things to do, so i never get round to it... but i did have a lucid dream which i couldnt control and i was just watching it like it was a movie, so i am going to write a novel about that dream...but that doesnt count as studing does it....

I think there have been discussions about this before.

Isn't that photographic memory? - very very few people have the ability to do that.

Theoretically everything you read should still be in your head, just locked away. If you opened a textbook, you could read everything you could read in real life, but anything you haven't read would be fuzzy, or blinking, liek when you look at a clock in a dream.

I could be wrong but im pretty sure that everyone, photographic memory or not, stores everything we see or hear within the depths of our minds forever. From personal experience I have noticed that this stored data can be reviewed...

I suppose it's possible, as long as you have read the material, and not just glanced at it.

Though I have to much to study for anyway when it comes to exams and a LD wouldn't be sufficient.

... if only I could WILD during the exam, get all the answers from the dream, and get an A

Not everything that is put in our short term memory is eventually transferred to our long term memory, stuff gets left out.

In addition, some studies put the total amount of information the brain can store from 1 to 10 terabytes, but most likely close to 3TB.

      I think it is possible.

My friend said he had a dream that he was studying definitions of words on flashcards. He made flashcards earlier that day and since he had practiced them for a little while, it popped up in a dream. It helped him remember the definitions.

Although, I dont know if you could read through a text book or something if you hadn't thought about it or read it earlier. It would be hard.

If you were good at lucid dreaming you might be able to though.

I actually agree with this comment.
