First Ld In Months! Wahoo!

So last night, I asked myself what it would take to have a LD that night. My body said a certain body movement, kind of in a Karate crouch, would get the job done. I did this position, then immediately hit the lights and got ready for sleep. I determined to keep my attention around as long as possible. I silenced my mind and let images come, while retaining my attention. I was in a western saloon, like in the movies, having a conversation about myself and my character. I almost lost control at one point, but I remembered to keep my attention. I could feel myself moving through various states of sleep - peaceful relaxation, then something clicked and I was in a passive state where all I can do is watch. Something clicked again and I entered a third state where it was really, really hard to keep my attention alive. I could feel my body being drained because it took everything I had to stay attentive. The scene changed several times, and I don't remember what the general topic of self-dialog was. I just remember walking down the streets of Montreal with a friend. I was really reliving the memory second by second, it was insane. All of a sudden, my back itched horribly, and I knew I had done enough that night. I tried to move my arm, but I couldn't move> My will had disconnected from my body, and transferred to my "dream body" (useful term from Carlos Castaneda)! I decided to end the experience, woke up and scratched my back. Does it count as an LD if I enter it from being awake, then watch myself fall asleep? I've had very little luck remembering to LD while in my dreams. For example, this morning I had several dreams about old schoolmates, and I didn't manage to LD in any of them. Thanks, CV

The definition of Lucid Dreaming is dreaming of being aware your dreaming, whether you get there from being awake or just randomly while your sleeping you have to be aware for it to be an LD. If by "attention" you mean that you knew you were dreaming, than yes it was an LD even though you couldn't control it. Don't worry about control though, it will come eventually. It took me 4 LDs to get any amount of control in my dreams (and being that I've only had 4 LDs the next ones will hopefully be even more controlled).

[/b] It was controlled, I was able to see my hands no problem. I'm not sure if it was a dream, or kind of that dreamy state before you actually go to sleep, or somesort of daydream. You think I was asleep? How do you define asleep, or dream, now that I think about it?!

To define sleep, you might want to check the main sight (I think they had it there), but this was definatly a Lucid Dream. Grats

I didn't even know what that was. All this time I had been breaking my head trying to just get myself to dream. Wilds are easier, though not easy. Anyway!! I had another LD the other night. I was in a French boulangerie, speaking all in French (a great way to practice now that I'm back home). I was about to wake up, then I was like holy crap, I'M DREAMING!! No waking up! So I recreated every element in my dream, although it had faded, and I willed everything back into place. This was the first time in a long time I'd just woken up in a normal dream. Very cool! I am not a natural dreamer either. I stink! That's like 3-4 dreams in the past week. Full moon theories, anybody?
