Wow, that's really touching. I think I must have been able to control my dreams, cause I remember dreaming about all these people in a race and thinking "Okay, you're gonna win..." |

Hi. Yeah, I'm going to skip the formalities and get right to the point. When I was younger (about 7 or8) , whenever I fell asleep I would be in a black...area. In the middle of the area was thousands of dreams playing out like a little demo clip of the full dream. I would be able to cycle through and choose whatever dream I wanted, and morph it to how ever I wanted. But every so often I would practically be forced to dream a strange dream. It started in a strip mall, but in one store was a strange jungle scene. My old bronco would always be faced upwards, half sunk in quick sand. all of one side of my family tried to escape--me included. Every tim I dreamed that, two of my family members would be trapped in the quicksand. Eventually, I was trapped with my Grandmother, whom I love to no end. I tried to get out, but my body felt weak and I just didn't have the streangth to escape. I looked over at my Grandma and she at me. As we slowly sunk, I said, "Well. It looks like this is the end." She just looked at me with the loving eyes that only a grandmother can give. I woke up right afterward. After that dream, I was never able to control my dreams again. I have no idea if anyone else has ever had this happen to them, and I would like to hear an opinion. |

"It was a dream! Can you control what you dream about, Hermione?" -HP7-9 Tasks-
Wow, very interesting and the dream was sad and touching. Do you remember if your grandmother was ill at the time? It might've just been a symbolic dream for realizing the mortality of relationships. |
|
Well first of all, both my Grandparents are still alive today and hopefully will be with my family for a while longer. As for your questions, I had the ability for a good three years(as far as my memory serves) with the "gallery". And I did have the "gallery" every night. I did have some nightmares, but those were all part of bad choices in the gallery(kind of like judging a book by its cover). I guess I was started to be picked on a lot back then, so that might be why I was unable to choose dreams any more. As for why this certain dream was last might be coincidental. But as for my views, the dream wasn't a coincidence. By the way, I was just telling the dream as it was. I guess I didn't expect it to be so emotional. Well, live and learn |

Do you have theories on why they stopped after that dream? Have you had a quicksand dream since then? |
|
You might have been feeling abit emotional towards your grandma some time before that dream happend unconsciously then those feelings showed up amplified in your dream. I find it that sometimes when intense love (not sex) or pain is involved in a dream it often repeats once or twice. Try getting over the fact that people dont live forever and learn to just "fly" out of the quick sand. I'm thinking the reason why your getting "stuck" is because your holding onto something emotional so.. let go of it and you should pop out of the quick sand! |

98% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you're one of the 2% who hasn't, copy & paste this into your signature line.
Alright alfaalex101, I'm sixteen now and haven't had a lucid dream since my "gallery" days. It kind of sounds like your riding my arse about letting go of my relationships, but I'm am very (almost regretably) aware that every one I now love will eventually die. And no, I have never had a quicksand dream after the last one. As for theories...? My best guess is that when I started to be picked on at school, my stress level increased dramatically and, since my Grandmother is the person I hold most dear now and always was, she was the one I dreamed to...(what's the best way to describe it?) die with me. That's my only guess. This is actually the first time I've mentioned the quicksand dream series to anyone else. |

Hmmm. I'll try that tonight. I've auto suggested before, but only half of it worked. I suggested that I had very lucid dreams and would remember them when I woke, but I only remembered the few dreams after that night. |

You know, next time you get a lucid dream you should summon your Dream Guide or Your Subconscience Personified, and ask them what this is all about. You should receive an interesting and maybe helpful answer. |

I tried the FILD technique, but failed. I had set my palm pilot to ring three hours after I fell asleep. The irony in it was that I woke up ten minutes before the alarm went off. I tried the technique, but fell asleep doing it and sure enough my alarm woke me up again. Then I remembered thinking that it wasn't supposed to do that! Then I fell back asleep and forgot to do the freaking tech.! I am SO pissed at myself. But in a way it's pretty funny. |

So the dream guide is like a subconscious tour guide through a dream? |

The way i see a dream guide: being able to talk to your subconcious. By summoning someone/something with the pretense of he/she/it being a dream guide. You can get an opinion from yourself without thinking it through conciously. |

"100% success you bitch"
Thats really freaky... If I woke up with that dream when I was 7 or 8 I'd probably burst into tears |

Alesana = to die for.
I'm starting to get really annoyed now. I don't think autohypnosis is going to work. I stayed up for about five minutes last night just counting to 100 and started to feel the weights pressing on me, then erased the knowledge and yada yada yada IT DIDN'T WORK. I even stayed up a little more so that I would forget that I tried it (like the post I read suggested) and got bubkis. It was slightly relaxing, but my body was NOT made to stay still for that long in conscious (or even slightly conscious) thought. I have ADHD and I am NOT a patient person, I NEED something to do. Actually, this time when I was counting, I was able to keep my mind from wandering. Maybe in a couple days I'll give it another try. |

Well, the problem for 80% of these techs is that you have to wake up during the night and I have to get up at 6 to go to school. |

that's really strange. When I was little, before I would go to bed, I would imagine a filing cabinet. I would pick out my dream from different files and have that dream that night. I wasn't able to control them as far as I know, but it's still strange. BTW, I have been trying the FILD tech for a week now with no success... I'm starting to doubt how reliable that is... |

I haven't had a lucid dream (yet) but as for suggestive techniques, I do a sort of MILD variant to remember my dreams. Just relaxing, then putting out the intent to remember dreams (or, in your case, put out the intent that the ability has not left you and that it will come back to you) as you fall asleep so that it's the last thing on your mind. |

Well I guess I'm not too optimistic these days. Usually everything that I look forward to goes to crap. Every time I tell myself not to get my hopes up, so I get pessimistic and if that thing doesn't happen, so I get angry instead of heart-broken. I've got to stop that. |
