      Music in Dreams

Hearing or playing music in dreams has always been fascinating to me. About a year ago I was in a band playing drums and we would practice every weekend if not more. We would always talk about how fun it would be to play in front of a crowd, and we ended up playing a talent show once. Anyway, before we did the show I remember having a dream (it was not lucid, but very vivid) where me and my band mates were playing in front of a large crowd. In my dream I remember hearing clear melodies and rhythm.
Lately I've been having lucid dreams quite frequently but in the past few of them I have not had any of the "magical powers." So two nights ago I found myself again making it know to the dream people around me that I am dreaming and proceeding to study their reactions. This time, I wanted to see how they reacted to music. So I began to sing to them one of my favorite songs. As I sang the verses it became aparent to me that I could sing segments of the verse in perfect pitch and some of them just seemed impossible to sing. I remember the dream people being very surprised to hear me sing, so I asked them to try it. Unfortunately I dont think they knew how because I remember hearing rather strange noises.

It would be interesting to know if anyone else has done something like this, such as playing an instrument or trying to sing. Or if anyone else has experienced not being able to play/sing/hear certain notes.

I've heard music in LD only once. I knew it was playing in my room and I could hear it through closed door.
I know it was a familiar track, yet it sounded so perfect! unbelivable...

i make music (trance pretty much), and ive been trying to compose my own music, while dreaming, since while you are dreaming your creative mind is +++ more than while you are awake...not to long ago i was having a dream, and i became lucid and was like 'ok, lets see if i can make some awesome music' and i remember somehow making music out of nothing, and i remember the sorts of sounds the dream was producing, but i cant, for the life of me, remember the song!!!!!!!! *arg arg arg* ...i remember waking up, and thinking, ok now i need to wake up slowly so ill remember this song *while remembering the melody* ... then i though 'wow, this song sounds alot like that other song i know...' so i started singing (or whatever you'd call it) the other song in my head, then was like 'hehe cool...now what was my song again? l;ks;ldfghsldfgskdhgdflgh' ...i actually thought that, as i had FORGOTTEN MY DREAM-SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IOUSAGHFIUAYR(HV)Q&JPAOSEH OIU^Q#%VVVVRX

One of my friends actually heard a lady sing a song in an unknown language. He said it was incredably beautiful and he even remembered the words of it. Even though it looked like elven.

This just goes to show how creative the subconscious mind can get.

      Yeah

Hmm, music in dreams is pretty interesting. I have had it happened twice since I began practicing Lucid Dreaming. The incredible thing to me is that the song I heard in one was a song I didn't know that well, or at least I thought. But in my dream it was perfectly clear and all the words were right! I agree with ya squall, the subconscious is incredible...
      Where am I again?

Yup it was just like that for me in my one and only music dream. I knew the song perfect and the words were so clear in my dream but I have no idea what it was now. I wanna have a Disney musical dream though that would be fun!!!

      I had one this morning!

When I woke up, I took a piece of paper and started writing lyrics that fitted with the music, but now I dont remember how I'm supposed to sing it

Not long ago I woke up from a dream where I used my MP3 player(RCA Lyra 1071). It was playing Mudshovel, my favorite song. When it ended I realized it was a dream and was so happy that it sounded real that I woke up smiling at 5:00. Very happy to have this happen, for it was good.

Does this ever happen to anyone else? I'd dream of hearing this really cool new song by <insert band that no longer exists, for ex: The Smiths>. Then as soon as I wake up, I'd be thinking "wow, what an awesome song by <insert band name>; oh wait.. they've broken up long ago."

I've heard Frank Zappa play with The White Stripes in concert in a dream, that was pretty neat.

I usually hear The White Stripes every few days in my dreams.

I knew you like The White Stripes according to your avatar. But every few days to hear their music? That's a pretty high frequency!

I had a dream last night that I was hanging out with Jimmy Page. It was the coolest dream. It was not a lucid dream but still vivid. He taught me how to play & we were jamming.
Anyway my point was I can recall what was seen and said in the dream but I could not recall any of the riffs that we played. ODD!

I usually have The White Stripes playing all day and all night, so it makes sense. Now to figure out where the hell Frank Zappa came in.

there has to be a reason for this> If we can remember sounds in general.
Maybe if you could write down the music. Or try to remember it in the context of reading the music. Maybe?
