      Hello!

Thought I'd share with you an experience that got me re-interested in Lucid Dreaming, and what prompted me to join this forum as well.

A little bit of background information:
On the previous night I had decided on a whim to try out the "6hrs sleep/1hr awake/back to sleep"-technique that I had read about earlier but never actually DONE it. Lazy me. My intention was to meet with this strange "mentor"-figure that I had encountered several times in my dreams before this experience, and talk with it.

Keeping a dream journal is something I've had an on/off relationship for years now but the dreams in witch the "mentor" appeared were always so vivid and clear I was definetly on the "on"-phase again.

      So here is the experience:

I woke up at 7 o'clock, stayed up for an hour and went back to bed. I relaxed myself, drifted into a half-dreaming state and soon I got the Vibrations. "Here we go," I'm thinking, and listen to the pleasant buzz in my ears. Suddenly I hear voices and realize i'm hearing dreams. I open my eyes and see my bedroom, clear as day - only there's a two-dimensional computer screen hologram hovering above me.

Words appear into it: "AUDIO PHASE COMPLETE...LOADING VISUAL PHASE..."

Suddenly, I'm hovering as an immaterial observer above a HYPERREAL (no better word for it) landscape, a serene countryside with rolling hills and small farmhouses. I realize I can control my movement and fly above this beautiful land. As I began to do so, I realize that the land is the mentor i'm looking for. I fly upwards in order to get a bird's eye view, but then something happens.

I get sucked upwards and upwards, all the way to the atmosphere and along the way I gain a sense of my dream-body. Because it is getting COLD. Some force sucks me out of the blue atmosphere into black space with no stars and it's COLD AS HELL.

In the darkness I see a green.... Blob...with "energy-tentecles" coming out of it. The tentacles reach for my head and I panic - the thing is entering my brains!! I begin to rip out the tentacles in fear but lose awareness...

      ***

I'm back to normal sleep. Two men ar performing a play for me in total darkness, dressed in renessaince clothing, speaking lines I can't remember anymore. I hear a sound to my left, turn around and see a wide stairway descending into an ocean. On top of the stairs is 10-15 brazilian showgirls. "Looks like another performance", I say to myself. The girls start to run down the stairs into the sea, and at the same time they transform into these awesome blue, shining woman-beings with two blue energy-tentacles coming from their sides and "connecting" them to heavens. As they hit the waves, the darkness is lifted away from above us like a blanket and i see a bright blue sky above the sea. Also, I realize this has got to be a dream (I mean 15 brazilian showgirls doing a private dance just for me? Too good to be true) and go Lucid.

I'm standing on the terrace of a huge mansion/villa that watches over an azure blue sea. Everything is hyperreal again. There seems to be a party going on here, lots of beautiful, succesful and young people. I wander in the crowd and descend away from the terrace into the villa, finding myself in the kitchen. There is a Tarot deck on the table. I pick up one card and suddenly a sense of dread floods over me. I turn around and before me is the face of a scary psycho, grinning at me. Something is coming out of its mouth, like a snake or a machine...

The monster leaps at me and I wrestle with it, Knowing that it wants to eat me alive.

      ***

I'm back walking in the marble stairway that leads to the terrace (how did I get out of the kitchen? Did I defeat the monster? Can't remember) when I see a woman sitting in the stairs. She seems "out of place", and not like the other party-goers here. I go and talk to her.

From a distance she looked like an attractive 25-30 year-old, but close up I see she's more like 60 or so. Standing face to face she looks even more "real" than before. She says her name is Olga and she speaks english with a strange accent. I tell her my name, and she asks how I spell it. I and try to talk more but there seems to be somekind of "noise" between us, like a bad phone line. The dream changes...

      ***

I'm under the mansion in a hallway that is lined by doors that lead to separate rooms. A door opens and I see my friend enter. I know it's not my friend but the same thing that attacked me in the kitchen, only in disguise. I grab him in a headlock and drag him to a room and start questioning him. "what the hell are you? Why are you pestering me? Are you just a figure in my dream?" But the thing only flashes his mad grin again and remains silent in my grip. "Okay. I'm in my own dream now, so I can do what I want to here, right?" I say out loud. There is a table next to us and i try to change it to a box to test my powers. It does not change. I concentrate and finally manage to change it to...another table. "Impressive", the thing finally speaks and I wake up.

      ***

I wake up living in a dreamlife where I live somewhere else and have another history. I have flashes of memories of past events that have never occurred as I walk in my dream-apartment. Suddenly I notice a TV above my bed and realize I'm dreaming...

And I wake up again, this time in my real bed. Everything is normal exept there is a strange object on the table. "Shit, I'm still dreaming", I realize again. One of my friends steps to the bedroom doorway. Exept it is not my friend, but the grinning Demon again. Now I get REALLY scared and close my eyes, trying to force myself awake....

...Only to find myself waking up and realizing im STILL DREAMING.

This process repeats itself for a long time. I wake up into a nother dream again and again, half aware of my sleeping body, trying to open my eyes and succeeding only to open my "dream- eyes" into yet another dream.

      ***

After some panicked thoughts I finally manage to wake up - for real this time. I'm shaking like a leaf, covered in sweat. I was a bit out of it for the whole day as you can imagine.... Still, it was the best dream I ever had.

I think your "mentor" is your Dream Guide, and I also think I should go get a shower.

      Welcome to the forums man.

Wow, that sounds like a really intense dream, and all in one night!

Is there anything you think influenced this? You say you had intentions of finding your mentor, but did you watch any movies (might account for the tentacles) or eat anything right before bed?

Welcome to DV, by the way
We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true. - Woodrow Wilson

As waves of plastic fame go out of fashion, You're going out (going out) forever unknown. These waves of plastic fame go out of fashion, You're going out (going out) forever unknown.

From above a rain of ashes descends anathema. I will remain, forever will remain. From below, in my seclusion, look up to the sky to see See paper wings and watch them burn.

I ate a couple of sandwiches before bed, but the experience happened in the morning and my stomach was empty by then. As for the tentacles, well i'm a Lovecraft fan but no, no movies or anything related to tentacles before sleeping

The coldness in the dream could have been caused by the room temperature though: it was freezing when I woke up!

Well you now know (now that you're awake) that nothing can harm you in your dreams, and definately not your lucid's, so if you ever encounter this grinning guy i suggest you try the following:

      *grinning guy appears*
You: "Hi grinning guy, you sure scared me last time, good one. So what's the deal with you appearing in my dream?"
      *Grinning guy looking confused*
You: "Well I'm just gonna go on my way, dreamguide to find and all, busy dream, see ya"

As long as you know that he can't do anything bad to you, he won't. Good luck for finding your guide, and I wish many lucids to you, peace,

      Glor
