Well, I’m getting closer to lucidity I know. I thought I had a short lucid dream last night, but I will explain what convinces me otherwise.

•I’ll start by saying that if I ever had a lucid dream, I’d be like “Hell yeah, I did it! Woo!” Not in this dream, I was like “Hmm, I’m in control…” I had no memory, from what I know, that I was trying to attain a lucid dream – not sure there.

•It was not at all vivid as real life or vivid at all; it felt as foggy as a typical non-lucid dream.

•It felt like, rather, as I would be imagining, very subtle as it did not surprise me. Nothing that happened in it was amazing or fantastic in comparison to how I would pre-imagine the dream in the waking life (visual incubating, or like a VILD). So not much gain in realism or vividness.

•It was too short, and I felt like I was slowly awakening. I don’t think I was overcome with excitement though, as I mentioned above, I didn’t really feel like I achieved my goal for lucidity.

So to conclude, and I want you to read this carefully: I don’t think I had a lucid dream, but rather, I think I dreamed of me dreaming a very low level lucid dream.

My progress is really funny isn’t it? I feel I’m so close, but never close enough. What makes me happy is my recall for that night; it was tremendous - maybe because I slept in a few hours.

Anyway, I’d like to hear your thoughts on what this dream could be; feel free to share your experiences which may be like this. I’d appreciate anything.

I had a pretty similar experience the third time I ever had a lucid dream.

Basically, I suddenly realized I was dreaming. You'd think I'd be a little happy about it or something, but no, nothing. I decided to look at my hands because everyone always makes this fuss over things that happen when you look at them while dreaming -- first time I looked at them they'd fused together at the edges of the palms, second time I looked they were apart, but all of the creases were very, very deep and exaggerated.

Then I just kinda went along with what was happening in the dream, slowly losing what little lucidity I originally had -- I kind of knew I was dreaming, but at the same time I was scared of embarassing myself in front of DCs.

When I woke up I also thought I "dreamed of me dreaming a very low level lucid dream", but now I think it was just a very low level lucid dream.

i think it was a lucid dream. i had an ld exactly like that once. i didnt have control over my enviroment, my actions, or my thoughts ( except for the thought that i knew i was dreaming. i dont recall any emotion, and all i remember was trying not to wake up. it seemed almost like a dream of a lucid dream. but even then you still know that you are dreaming no matter how little so it is still a ld.
Total lucid dreams=88

King Crimson (I <3)

This kind of happened to me. I was in a dream where there were lots of ships on two islands, and the islands were like 50 meters away from each other. Anyway, I realised i was dreaming and I was like "oh, great....", then 10 seconds later I had a false awakening, in which i tried to turn off my alarm while keeping the dream in my head and having my eyes closed. Thats basically all I remember up to.

My last lucid dream felt like a phoney lucid. I can't think of any other way to describe it. It was amazingly vivid and I had enough control that I screwed around morphing and levitating things, stopped a bullet with my fingers, tried to convince my sister in dream that were in a dream... but it still didn't 'feel' like a lucid dream. Thought it was a LD I can't seem to totally accept that it was because it lacked the LD feel.

Really odd and it bugs me still. Maybe that dream was actuall a lucid dream within a dream?

Well, as Oneironaut said, it is a good chance of being a low level lucid dream. Unfortunately, his post and one of mine got deleted or lost (and many others) in a problem DV had encountered.

If you know it's a dream, in any way, it's a lucid dream.

Dream recall always affects your perspective on it too by the way.
