I took a nap today, and I even thought to myself before I fell asleep, "a lucid dream would be cool" but i didn't seriously consider it, because my next door neighbor had his music on, the bass high enough for me to hear it pretty well, and I was too lazy to turn MY music off, so it was on "random" choosing things from Harry Potter to The Ataris. And it was sorta loud, loud enough to not be able to drown it out...

Well, in the middle of my dream, where I was floating down a river of chocolate (I love you, Willie Wonka), I heard my cell phone go off, and i "woke up".

For some reason, my cell phone was very quiet, even though I knew it was on loud and vibrate. I looked on the shelf above my headboard, and I couldn't find where I left it. I was so sleepy, i said "screw it," and turned over to go to sleep again. I glanced at the window, which was MUCH closer to my bed than I remember it being. The sun was setting brilliantly, and I looked upwards. The extrordinary reds turned into purples, and then to deep blues as I looked higher, and then right below the top of the window, I saw a patch of stars. There were thousands of them, in only that small area! It was like the sky had a huge hole in it, and I could see more stars than I ever saw before. I remembered to myself that downtown Cincinnati is too polluted to be able to see stars like that, and realized that I was dreaming. Everything froze, and began to turn dark immediately. I said "remain lucid!" but instead of moving again, my view turned into several TV sets. I could hear the thumping bass of next door, and then my music became louder, and I knew I was waking up.

It came out of nowhere, and it's been a while since I've had anythign close to a lucid dream.

Anyway, I checked out my cell phone, and, indeed, it did ring during my nap. Which means I have experienced a Sound Induced Lucid Dream. SILD is mine!
