Play Music By Ear in an LD?

I was thinking that in an LD, you would have a much keener sense of absolute pitch for music.

Has anybody had an LD in which you played any song you wanted by ear, whether it be piano, guitar, violin, etc? and then might have you been able to play it after waking up? (w/o sheet music?)

I'm really excited to try this when I get more lucid.

You mean like practicing an instrument? That is one of the great things about LDs. You can practice for real life.

I can compose complex arrangements in my LDs (symphonic and chorales), but I cannot read music and have never had any formal training except a semester of classical guitar... go figure. I used to have these very intrusive musical dreams that would cause a lot of fear, so I began to "battle" the intrusive sounds with more soothing music -especially praise music or music that glorified the name of God. I often change the course of negatively oriented dreams by arranging worship music.

Dang, I heard this really nice Jazz tune the other night in my dream, but I can't recall it! I should have at least hummed it out! I can't write down the tune when I wake up, because I'm a bit unsure on where each note goes on the blank sheet music.

when you're in a dream your creative mind is also working 10x better...ive been trying to write a song in my dreams for ages now, and bring it to waking life, and re-compose it as a song all can hear...one time i managed to remember to do this, and made a whole song and i was like 'this is so awesome!' so i slowly let myself wake up, trying to remember the song, and when i woke up i was humming it and i was like 'hey, that sounds like this other song...' and i started humming the other song, then i was like 'noo...what was my song?' but it was too late...i had forgotten T.T

I here things spontaniously in the hynogogic state. Somtimes very unigue Ideas and sounds. I wish I could tap into that on a regular basis.
Anyway Like Werburn wrote, your creative mind is really on top of things which I would think would support your Idea!!!!!
Good Luck. Next american Idol maybe. No I would not wish that on anyone.

Over the past few years I've become alot more intune sort of speak with my Lucid Dreams. And my greatest passion is music. I really love to sing, so the majority of my musical inspirations are from my Lucid Dreams. I think reaching into a deeper part of yourself can give you the utilmate expressions and desires of all your real-life dreams.

Ah! Cool! One of my goals with LD is to use that creative potential, too. I especially want to write some songs in my sleep... I've done it before, but I wasn't lucid (so I was just hearing the songs play) but I can't remember them.

      Very sweet topic!

It sounds like it would be possible, I'd like to try it.

We all know by now that if we do not get off our #**!%#! and write it down you are very unlikly to remember. So as the saying goes> JUST DO IT
Even if it takes getting up and playing it on your instrument, what will you miss? A half hour of sleep? You get plenty of sleep when your dead. Besides being awake for a little while and going back to sleep is a good way to LD!!!!

Haha yeah, Howetzer, you're absolutely right! Since I'm terrible at writing music down, I'll have to get a tape recorder or something and start singing when I wake up.

My roommate is gonna think I'm so freakin' weird. Mwahahahahaha

Me and my friend (moetrix) have been talking about that. If you can learn instruments, like guitar... Is it really possible to learn like how to play a guitar? In lucid dreams?!

I don't know about that. I mean I heard of practicing something you're already familiar with, but I don't think you can learn something entire new without knowing how it works.

Well, is you knew the basic musical theory behind it, I don't see why not.

I can play improv on my guitar with my eyes closed, and still hit the "right" notes.

I usually forget what exactly I played in a dream when I wake, even if right when I wake I am ready to write it down.
