Life is but a dream within a dream

I was standing in the field of my parents house on LI, it was cold, and snowing.

I heard the words in my head

I am going to give you an upgrade

I began changing, I grew feathers, my nose and mouuth began to elongate and harden into a beak which was a VERY strange feeling.

I turned into a giant eagle, probably stood about as tall as I am now. (6'3)

I jumped and lofted myself into the sky, flying like this felt strange, I am used to my dragon form, in this new form I could feel the currents of air on my wings through my feathers, as a dragon, I had a much more tactile feel for the air as it was breathing across my very skin and not being translated down the shafts of feathers.

I tried to change into my dragon self...It wasnt working, all I could manage was a half human with feathered wings... it was a horrible way to fly, incredibly off balance and inneficient.

I changed back into the eagle, all I had to do was stop trying to not be the eagle and voila.

I gained altitude, which was a bad idea, I hit a strong current of wind and snow, i was being blown all over the place, I could not fight the wind and the snow stung my eyes, and started to cake on my primarys and tail feathers...
I kept thinking my dragon form would have no problem flying in this, I could outfly a fighterjet in normal weather and still do the same in a hurricane.

I did the only thing I could, try to land, the wind was forcing me on a tangent though and I came down on the other side of the lake

      -------Discontinuity---------

I woke up in the water....

      I remembered the previous dream....

It was warm out, summer, I was in the lake right where I crashed.

      Terrified

      Not again

Was it all a dream, what drugs did I do? ( I didnt do any) did I fly here? what the F#$% is going on!?!?

I climbed out out of the water, there was a small stone wall, I stepped over it, I was in some ones back yard, I walked up to the house shivering, not of cold, I was freaking out...

I banged on the sliding door, two little kids came out they were probably only 6-8 years old, I really had a hard time keeping myself from going hysterical, I was totaly awake, aware and consious, I said
"can I please use your phone... I just woke up in the water over there *pointing*

"I'm really confused and scared please help me?"

They thought I was crazy and took off back inside the house, I could hear their frantic little voices....several adults came outside a moment later. A big pudgy black dude, 3 ladies, and another man I can only describe as a redneck, all of them were middle aged in their thirtys I would guess..

The redneck spoke "Who are you and why are you scarin our kids, and WHAT are you doin in our yard!"

I said "Look, I'm really confused and feakin out man, I just woke up in the water over there I'm not sure how I got there, I just need to use your phone please"

One of the women said something about calling an abulance

at least she could see I needed help but it was the last thing I wanted

The redneck went on "looks like hes crazy we should call the cops and have you loocked away in the looney bin so you dont go scarin peoples kids, he sat down in one of the deck chairs.

I tried to defend myself but he kept being an asshole, and finaly he just started to piss me off.

"crazy? you want to hear crazy? well the dream I woke up from I was flying and I crashed in the same F&#$ing spot I woke up in"

The redneck went on "yep we are definatly callin the looney bin, hes nuts"

      I had enough

"Look, F#$& you asshole, I just woke up in a lake, dont know how the hell I got there other than some weird ass dream, I dont need your Shit, so F*#& off!"

The black dude laughed and said "You tell him, you dont hafta take his crap"

Is tarted to walk off, as I passed the redneck I bobed at him in the kind of "what?! what you want some?" kinda way, he got up and hit me from behind, I grabbed his arm and tried to flip him over my shoulder, but failed miserably, I was still kinda wobbley and weak, he laughed at me and pushed me off the deck on to a sandy peninsula. I rolled and got back up, he was right in my face already, I grabbed and twisted his arm, I was going to break his wrist, he yelled in pain and I wussed out, let his arm go and pushed him away. He charged me and I jumped....

      Too high,

      F#$% not again!!!

I held my position in the air then lifted myself about 20 feet up. I laughed and said
"whos F#$&in crazy now asshole? you must be hallucinating or something right?"

He just stared dumbfounded.... I laughed some more and flew off, I flew thru the braches of a great oak tree, it was immense...

At this point I lost consiousness and the deam continued, but nothing really noteworthy.

I am findind that the line between dreaming and being awake is becoming more fuzzy all the time. How about the rest of you. In can remember really getting scared one time.

      First a little background:
I have been married for almost 20 years and have 2 kids, with lots of good memories and experiences.

Well once in a dream, I dreamt that I woke up and that the past 20 years of reality were just a dream. I was back in my old bed at my parents house.
I can remember agonizing over it and thinking that I was going insane. It bothered me to the point that in my dream I was going to wake my parents and ask them to take me to the psychiatric hospital for treatment.
I was also really bummed because I thought that my wife, kids, and all of the fun we had were only a dream.

Needless to say, when I woke up, I was really relieved to learn that I had my family back!

It really bothered me for a few days. I was always wondering just what was reality and what was a dream, and was waiting to wake up again.

Yes. A loud, resounding YES. The times when I wake up in complete mental shock because I don't know whether I'm still dreaming or in the waking world are becoming way too frequent of late. In fact, just this morning I asked my mom whether something was dream or reality. Apparently, I had dreamed that my sister came into my room to wake me, and I yelled at her. I'm not a grumpy wake-upper and I felt horrible. But my mom said that my sister hadn't come into my room at all. It's a small thing, but I swore it had really happened. That wasn't an isolated incident that day, either. I distinctly heard the voices of people who weren't in the house at the time. We got a new grey tabby kitten, but then I woke up... There was no new kitten, just the current roster of animals we have now. Everything was so disorienting. I kept questioning myself on the way to work... was I really there in the car or was I dreaming that, too? It was all very surreal.

If I weren't already crazy, I'd wonder if I was headed in that direction. =P

By the way, SeekerDave, didn't Captain Picard have that same experience in an episode of Star Trek? (Wow, did I just geek myself out!)

I still feel like I'm dreaming, I want to wake up, but I fear I never will... it's all just dreams within dreams. I hope your not all constructs of my mind... I'd be real bummed. I want to lucid dream to see if I can wake up. My dreams feel... lost.

Yes, very much so, I wake up all the time confused, not knowing where I am.

This really started to drive me insane a little while back, I almost freaked, but I calmed down and came to the realization that.

Now, everything I experience at this moment is real, If I happen to wake up in a cavern strange people around me, and end up living with them for some time and end up in the middle of a war over water, then so be it, that is reality at that moment.

I leave places and then go back and find that the history of the place is still intact much like here.

I had a dream awhile ago that I found out I was actually a spell, a sorcerer, at the end of his rope, in a drunken stupor cast a creation spell and I was the result, sheer blind luck had that I was created in such a complete way and lasted this long.

It made me reflect long and hard, what if I am a dream contruct...if I am, the dreamer has given me self awareness, or I grew and finaly became self aware, taking that into account I am no longer a construct.

      I am.

We are all Dreamers, the day we awake will be when our spirit is ready, and has gained enough experience for the next level of existance.

I've said in another post that I have a dream world in which I remember other things from other dreams from years past. Like I have this world and then the dream world. Anyways, I've dreamed that I "woke up" and came to the realization that my life , this life, with my hubby and kids and stuff was all just a dream. And I was like "but man, that was so real, how could that had been just a dream". And I was confused, but accepted that it was all a dream. Only to later "wake up" again and realize that was just a dream.

I think I confused myself with this post. lol

Hehe, no worries, I think the oddity would be if you were NOT confused...
Our little heads have a hard time coping with alternate realities... I know from experience, almost lost myself. Im curious when you get into the dream world, does it take you a little while to remember everything, or is it an instant thing and you remember it all right away, In my experience it takes me a little while to remember if I have been in that place before.

Tim, it is scary at times, waking up not knowing what the hell is going on, but over all... I think its worth it, just think of how much more time we get to have, how much more we get to experience, and most importantly, how much more we will grow in this short lifetime.

My memories in the dream world are just like having memories in this life. I'll remember right away; people, places, things, experiences, etc. It's almost like I live a double life and the 2 are seperate from each other. Does that make sense?

      yep, thanks,
I find I loose memory of some of the things in this place when I am in the dream world, and the same goes for this world, I forget things about the dream world... But its not an instant thing for me, It takes a lil while for my memories to get jump started

it is a story (actually a series, i dont know how many books) where these kids are somehow going back and forth between two worlds. when they fall asleep in the real world they wake up in this other world, which is just as real. but the other world has vikings and giant wolves and monsters and a bunch of weird shit. the only way for them to get from the other world back to the real world is to fall asleep in that world. and somehow the "dream world" affects them in the real world. (i only read the first book)
