My lucid dreams have taken a weird turn. When i use to become lucid in a dream, my dream world would become a lot more vibrant and 'real' looking. more colourful and alive basically.

But the last few dreams i've had, as soon as i gained lucidity, my dreams became really dull. almost just like a grey daydream. This began when i was practicing being aware that my dream world was just a dream, as for a long time everytime i was lucid i felt like i was dreaming, but moving around in a REAL world that was outside of my mind.

Its almost like, when i become lucid, i realise immediately that my body, my perception and the world i am in are all just my imagination, so it literally feels like i'm unconsious and staring at my eyelids, with fleeting dream images with little consistancy.

its kinda taking the fun out of it. any ideas?

This has never happened to me, but I have heard ideas about what to do when this happens. For instance, you could pretend that you were wearing some sort of sunglasses, then you could remove them thus making the dream seem brighter.

Have you tried looking at your surroundings in more detail? Or trying to improve all the senses whilst dreaming (like trying to notice noises/smells/etc)?

These are just some ideas. Like I said, this has never happened to me before.

Where did you learn the technique of seeing the dream world was just a dream? Have you been lucid dreaming long? Are you a natural lucid dreamer?

I think maybe your level (skill level) of lucid dreaming has actually increased. Or/and your sleep is now at a lighter stage of sleep.

I would guess that the vibrancy is also dependent on which stage of the sleep you are at (light, medium, deep etc).

I suppose if you want your dream to be more vibrant, just try to stay lucid for longer and go with the flow. Observe your dreams in the dream state. As you naturally go into a deeper state of sleep, the dream will get more vibrant. (unless you purposely wish to remain at a light stage of sleep throughout your sleeping hours).

      That is my guess

I think its definately a sign of my 'skill level' increasing because i'm much more aware in my dreams, to the point that i am aware of my paralized sleeping body, and certain noises and things around me, but am unconscious. . . its hard to explain.

I think it may be more of an issue that my focus has been lost. I think by dismissing my dreams as 'just dreams', i no longer focus on the dream world around me but rather my control.

I am always pretty much just visual and tactile in my dreams, so i might do as you suggest and start becoming more aware of smells and sounds and maybe even taste in my waking state and in lucid dreams.

Thanks for the the suggestions! will let you know how it goes!
