      harmful effects of lucid dream?

last night I was dreaming normally when I suddenly realise I am dreaming, a man appears and says "when was the last time you did this" and then a very high tech helicopter cockpit appeared, I said "Never" and he looked back and then we banked to the right. I woke up soon after this point and woke up in a real state of paranoia, I had a panic attack which took 30mins to subside. I was just really freaked out. For most of the night however it had definately consisted of the nightmare type of dreams, the ones where although the dreams are not bad they are really worrying/scary/uncomfortable to be in. Is it possible the LD caused the panic attack after I woke up?

ó_Ò Like I've said many times before, if the topic of scary things is on your mind, be it from a previous nightmare or anything else, your subconcious will act upon that and spawn a scary scene, even if you are lucid, as you probably know you dont always have 100% controll. If you had some kind of panic attack after you woke up it could be from your dream, I'm not sure, you didnt tell me enough about the order of events. But its probably safe to say that there's no harmfull effects of lucid dreaming, unless you're doing some really really stupid things.

I became Lucid at about 3am in the morning, before this I had been stuck in a dream about a tornado passing close to my house. it felt like the dream was replaying itself over and over again for hours, this I suppose worked me up badly, then the dream changed to the lucid type with the helicopter experience, I woke up and felt so scared

Lucid dreams are better than normal ones. You can have the same scary dream normally but you don't have any control over it. While lucid you do have control or at the very least you know its just a dream.

I've always wondered why is it referred to as high-level lucidity when at high levels you still do not posses a significant amount of control over the entire content of the dream. Shadow talks about Super Lucidity like he's Obsessed with it or something, but he says, that is the only state that allows ultimate control over everything. I guess thats why WILD's are so difficult to master because it is said that you can only achieve Super through WILD's.

I was shaken up from my first lucid dream as well. But once you are aware that you can control your dreams you gain more and more confidence. In turn I have had only two nightmares in the two years that I have learned to Lucid dream.
Some people may not be ready to expieriance a Lucid dream.
Even if you cannot gain total control, (I rairley do), you can still be aware that it is only a dream and you can not be hurt which may help in your fears.

Lucid dreams which induce fear can help you overcome fear as well.

In LD you can combat your opponents without fear of defeat, you can push your abilities to the limit.

I have such dreams, but I dont look at them as nightmares, but as adventure...

I gotta say, Lucid Dreams are almost always ultimately positive. If anything, they expand your perspective of yourself and the world. W/o a doubt, you find more about yourself, and Ld's can help with spiritual growth.

I'm a habitual worry wart in real life, but I don't have too many nightmares....hopefully, I will be able to conquer those worries in my dreams.

You can also befriend any adversary in your dreams becuase ultimatley they were your creation. I have read that to make amends with an opponent is more effective than defeating them.

Yeah, but defeating them is soooooo much more fun...
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...
