Hello everyone, I have been lurking on this board for awhile & decided to sign up & share my experiences with you all.

First, let me say what a great community i think this is. Everyone seems friendly & i've learned alot about LD since i became interested in them from here.

So basically I have been interested in LD dreaming for about 3 weeks. I'm fascinated by the whole thing & the possibilities there are by being able to explore the world your mind creates. I believes there are many benefits to LD, & for me I think by raising my awareness in my dreams, I will be able to bring this higher level of consciousness into the real world. Since i've been researching LD my dreams have been far more vivid & been i've generally far more aware of my levels of awareness in waking life.

Anyways, i've been keeping a dream journal & doing regular reality checks throughout the day. I've also been using a subliminal messaging program on my computer, which is really good.

The night before last I had my first lucid experience. It started off as a normal dream, I was with my stepdad in the hallway of my house. He was talking to me about getting rid of things & later regretting it. The scene then switched to my bedroom, & my mum was there & we carried on this conversation about regretting getting rid of things. She started saying how she regretted getting rid of some of her music in the past, & I said to her something like ' Yeah, I regretted getting rid of that skunk anansie tape I had (which I didn't in RL, the tape broke). Although, when I got it on CD again, it wasn't that good anyway' (which is true)

As I finished saying this, the album began playing on my cd player. I then thought to myself, 'wait a minute, that's not possible, I didn't put that on!' I then knew I was dreaming. Immediately after this I had a FA, I was in my bed, & thought to myself, I don't think i'm really awake, did a nose RC, AND I BECAME LUCID!

Everything was all hazy and I thought 'man, this is weird as hell, but so incredible!' I knew that if I didn't increase my awareness I'd lose the LD, so I tried to say 'AWARENESS, NOW!' but I couldn't talk. I tried to get out of bed but I felt so tired & heavy, at that moment a cat resembling my cat in RL walked by, I tried to reach out to it & it looked at me in the strangest way, & ran from me. Then I woke up.

In some ways it was unpleasant & frustrating, but despite how hazy it was, it was so real. It was amazing to experience & I can't wait to have my next LD. Sorry about the long post btw

Awesome experience, Marc - congrats! and welcome to the community!

Right on, man - totally agree with you there. Lucid dreaming can teach us all sorts of things by giving us the ability to experience something without having to actually do it in real life. All the guilty pleasures without the risk

Excellent practice - hard to keep up for some of us sometimes

I've also been using a subliminal messaging program on my computer, which is really good.[/b]
Care to share a bit more about that?

Yes that is the wonderful thing about it I think there is so much you can discover about yourself too, as your subconscious mind knows more about you then your conscious mind does.

Yes it can be difficult at times, but I've felt so determined to follow it all through that i'll force myself if i have to!

It's a free subliminal messaging program called subliminal blaster, if you google it you will find their website easily. You can select from a list of messages that you want to display or write your own. there is a section called 'control your dreams' which has some very good messages but I added some of my own too. It runs while you're doing what ever you're doing, & uses a minimal amount of CPU so it doesn't slow your pc down. It's very useful for LD & many other things too, like dealing with depression, weight loss, quitting smoking etc. I believed it's helped immensly in my LD success. It's worth trying out.

I have the same problem in my FAs and at the begining of my WILDs (which are more like OBE) : when I start in my bed/room, I'm all sluggish. But don't worry, this passes as soon as I manage to go outside, or if the LDs starts elsewhere. Then you'll feel really free and light.
      Dec. 2006 - July 2007:
      92 DILDs + 30 WILDs ; 75% too short, 24% decent, ~3 of 2 to 5 minutes
      (I stopped counting after that)

Yeah from alot of the post from people on here that i've read, the bedroom often seems to be an uncomfortable & hazy environment for lucid dreams.

& considering it was my first LD I think I got pretty far, I mean I was pleased that I remembered to do a RC after my FA.

Hopefully next time i'll manage to stay lucid for long enough to change my environment. Instead of trying to raise my awareness in my room (if I end up there again) i'll try to change my environment first, which will probably make me more aware anyway.

What is the best way that you have found to change your surroundings?

Yeah, I've only had one lucid dream and it was totally amazing. I've been keeping a dream journal and the recurring elements are helping me in reality. The cool thing about it is that we're tapping into our subconscious. I'm in a band, and what I've begun to do is write a concept song/album/whatever about my lucid dreams and my dream journal's elements. Kind of a personal creative quest of mine, but my reasoning for it is exactly what you said MarcJR.

My first lucid dream is posted somewhere else on this forum. I didn't go into too much detail, but it was pretty wicked. I can't wait to have another one. I never thought something like this was possible.

Yes it really is the most incredible thing! & it's one thing reading about it, but then to experience it, for me it's been life changing.

I will have a look for your post on your LD experience. Let's hope there are many more to come!

I agree with what you're saying about tapping into our subconscious. The possibilities are endless.

I've been in a few bands myself, for the past year i've been going solo (although i've joined another band recently), & i've recorded 5 albums so far. I have three other projects i'm working on right now, and funnily enough, one of them is the same idea as yours. It's all about dreams, LD, mainly the feelings, emotions & the colours you experience in them. Rather than tell a story lyrically with each track I write, i'm telling the story through sounds. It's one of the most exciting musical projects i've done, & I have LDing to thank for it!

I wish you the best of luck with your project on LDs & with your band!

Thanks, you too. I'll be on this forum again I'm sure with some updates on the project and anymore LDs I might have. It really is life-changing. I thought it was a sham at first but it's cool that I can experience something like this now, especially since I can apply it to my music and such. Is any of your bands' music on the internet? MySpace or something? I'd love to check it out. My music is really crazy and experimental, which is why I like this whole LD concept album idea. http://www.myspace.com/fraysiontheminotaur

Oh yes, I think it is a great source of inspiration for anything creative.

Currently my bands music isn't on the net, we're planning on setting up a myspace page when we've recorded some tracks. I do however have a myspace for my own solo music, which you can find Here

Crazy & experimental is good in my book alot of my music is very experimental too. I shall have a listen to your music anyway, let me know what you think of mine if you fancy having a listen.
