Lucid dream turns into astral projection

This happened to me a few months ago while i was staying in my student accommodation over term:
I was having a normal dream (cant really remember the details) but as it started to end I realised i was asleep. I used the lucidity to have some fun and decided to fly around the streets and dive-bomb people. Suddenly I felt myself starting to wake up and remembered something I had read about lucid dreams and astral projection being closely linked especially in the stages of waking. I quickly concentrated on making my spirit body rise up out of my physical one, in the space of a second i felt a risng vibration followed by a sudden rush of air as if I was being catapulted upwards at great speed.
Next thing I know is Im looking at my ceiling which is now about 2 centimeters away from my face and im flailing around like someone under water who cant swim. I remember thinking something like "Wow, Im actually out, I really did it!... I better get control of this" And trying to control my weightless floating body.
After that i remember nothing, I dont think i woke up straight away, it felt like I had been gone hours before I awoke again... maybe I went on some big astral adventure that I cant recall.

IMO, probably because you had read about AP you thought that was an AP while it was a False Awakening, still a dream but because you assumed it was an AP everything played out as you would expect it.

Lucid dreams can become Astral Projections. Congratulations. You may want to read the AP guide in the useful links section in tutorials, because Don DeGracia mentions in detail how Lucid Dreams can become AP experiences (confusing, but possible).

I had similar thing. I was was experiencing a WILD onset, and suddenly I was gently pulled from my body and hovered under the ceiling. Just a couple of inches away from it.

I could look around, but it was *not* normal perception.

I had no body and couldnt move. My field of view was fish eyed, about 270 degrees...

It wasnt just a regular lucid dream.

Yeah I thought about that, but I experienced the unmistakable vibrations and rushing of air...ive felt them before whilst conciously trying to AP but never got as far as leaving my body because I got too nervous and fell back down. It could still have been a dream tho, maybe because I knew what it felt like my brain re-created those feelings...but still thanks SPOILSPORT
