I am getting very interested in experiencing mystical states in lucid dreams. I have done it a few times. I have made some really trippy, supernatural type things happen in lucids, but never for more than two or three seconds. I saw what appeared to be life's extreme significance when I went back in time and saw my mother with a toddler form of myself. I had one dream where I decided to completely let go and not make any effort to do anything but be otherwise effortless, and I went into the air really fast while looking at my body. The out of body experience involved the vibrations OBE practitioners always describe and a sense of much higher consciousness. After about two seconds, I was in my body again and repeated the situation, which again only lasted about two seconds. The dream immediately shifted to a different location. I once looked into a mirror in a lucid and saw something so psychedelic and surreal looking it is hard to describe. It had something to do with the ocean and time travel. The experience lasted about a second, and I woke up.

Any way, those are the kinds of experiences I am talking about. I wanted to see what other people say about their experiences. It would be great news if I see a post where somebody talks about having made such an experience last for a while. I am sure it can be done, but that is a level I have not reached yet. Once I can master those experiences, making them happen on a regular basis, being able to control them fairly well, and making them last a while when they do happen, I will no longer have "lucid screw off" under my screen name. I will be a master or maybe a guru at that point. Can anybody tell me first hand about such experiences?

That's an awesome idea! Can you be my lucid guru
Last night I had an interesting experience where I was listening to music and sort of felt time slow down and stop. Somehow I felt it in my body and heard the notes slow down to the point where they were pure energy. Something like that. I wasn't really exerting any control over the dream, and I'm not sure how this could be done.

Here's an idea: look at this picture and try to explore some kind of impossible landscape when lucid. That would be trippy.

I experienced something in a lucid dream kind of like the events you described, just yesterday morning.

While watching TV in my house, I did a reality check, and became lucid. I decided to go look in the mirror in my bathroom, since mirrors often show interesting things in dreams, but found that the light was off, and the light switch didn't work.

To increase my sense of sight so I could see in the room, I stood halfway in the door, and stared at my hand, trying to see the details. Details did appear, but not those of my hand. I'm not sure what exactly it was that I saw, but it looked like my hand faded out, and I could see something else. It's hard to describe, but it reminded me of the colors of the kaleidoscope, fireworks, moving crowds, and stars in the sky. I don't think I'd call it spiritual, but it was certainly surreal and trippy.

Thanks. Those both sound really trippy. How long did the experience last? If I could make that type of thing happen for even ten minutes straight just once a week, it would probably have a major effect on the course of my life. It would be such an incredible bonus, and I would put so much more into practicing lucid dreaming. It could very possibly be enough to keep me permanently off drugs.

I'd say it lasted around 30 seconds, although it's hard to be sure. I think it could have lasted longer if I had let it, but at the time I was annoyed enough at the way things weren't getting brighter how I wanted them, that I didn't realize how cool it was at the time, and ended up deciding to just go somewhere where it wasn't dark.

I like how some of you guys consider some experences in dreams where you believe it is an "out of body" experience. Where you move somewhere else but you see your body stay in place. That's cool. I'm more cynical. I call those experiences "camera panning" because to me that is just the dream cam shifting position like in a movie. Like a "mean while, else where in dreamland......." situation, get what I mean? But that's the way I see it.

Those experiences, huh? Once you become aware, or lucid, you can manage anything. I remember one dream, when I became aware, I started to manipulate objects from a distance through mind/hand telekenesis. Someone behind a barred window was taking pictures of me, so I knocked the camera out of his hand by the same method. At this point I realized an extra-awareness. Almost like what a supervillian, who is enslaved by chaos, would feel. An urge to destroy and create destruction. At this point, I was feeling surge of energy flowing through me, predominately in my chest. It was a bit painful. Felt like my heart and organs were largely inflatting and filling with something even though they remained the same size in my body. I didn't fear this pain, I just embraced it and when I did, the dream cam "out of body" shifted very, very quickly to the centre of some city where, I guess, some force and I decided that we'd destroy this city and produce this mass of neon green energy, which you know looked like the kind of thing which would eventually hit critical mass and explode, destroying an entire city. The incredibly illuminous chaotic green ball seemed to grow and be linked with the energy flowing through me. At this point, as the ball grew in size and ferocity, this cacophony of ominous, frightening, supernatural sounds filled my head. My vocals now sounded like a mix of ghastly tones, like it was a union of hundreds of spirit voices, when I started to talk some profound cryptic crap, like you'd hear an evil creature/villian before it destroyed something, only what I said made absolutely no sense. I can't remember but all I know this was one of those evil speeches that is meant to inspire fear and terror but instead would inspire confusion and make people go "Huh?!!! What the hell does that mean?". At this point, while I was blah blah blahing in the spooky voice, the cam shifted back to where I was, and I saw me suspended in mid-air, engulfed in an illuminous cloud and web which was the same colour as the growing immanent destruction ball, a kind of neon green. More blah, and before the green mass went off, my sis woke me up 'cause I had to take her to work. Bloody bitch. I would've liked to see the green blob explode. Oh well.

How's that for a dream? Pretty weird, huh?

Haha it's hard to tell how long mine lasted because time stopped! It just wasn't even conceptualized in my mind.

Personally, I think that lucid dreaming is infinitely better than drugs. It takes a lot of effort and patience, but you get so much more out of it. It isn't something external that you depend on to make you happy, it's a part of our minds that we have just become aware of but was always there.
I think once you can carry certain lessons into real life you feel very fulfilled. The last time I smoked I realized that the state I was in was the same as a cloudy dream state, and that realization had a very profound effect on my life. I don't drink or do drugs and I have no desire to.

That's the type of reassurance I like to see. Lucid dreaming seems to have worlds more potential than drugs. Unfortunately, I have a history of loving weed, but I have on many occasions been stoned and thought about how I was clouding up my head with something that is just a small lucid dreaming sample on a toothpick. It is like sliding down a playground slide while thinking about skydiving.
