No longer a LD virgin :D

haven't really posted in a while.. nothin to post about.. hehe :]

well, I've been focusing on my dream recall untill I get to 2 dreams a night (that way if it does slack off while I focus on dream signs/reality checks I should still get 1)... but last night while I was having one I LD'ed :]

I was dreaming that I was in some kinda zoo, or arena/colloseum, and for some reason this one woman with deep red hair and vibrant red lipstick just goes nuts, runs and kinda sneaks around, snarling like a beast! For some reason, all the rest of the people were guys, and they were all scared of her, like she was rabid, dodging her when ever she charged them.

For no reason at all, she calms down and stops and circles a bit on the side, next to a railing. Being the natural charmer that I am, I approach her.

But when I got next to her, my normal dreaming thoughts changed, and it struck me, in a calm natural voice "This makes no sense, it must be a dream, a lucid dream" I began to focus on the woman and try to make her turn around (I didn't want to do anything complicated like actually changing anything). It worked! She turned around!

But then something weird happened... the background began to flow away, it looked sorta like black water of with white streaks flowing downward! While I noticed it periferally, the woman began to fade away, then I blacked out (the dream was over). I didn't imediatly wake up, I know this cause it feels different when I wake up suddenly in a dream, I guess.

      comments? suggestions? :]

      Congrats Erf!!!!!

If the dream starts to fade, something that is very common(at least in my case, although they currently keep lasting more and more). I suggest you try spinning, or focusing or your hands, etc. Anything that will use your senses and make you feel something, will help you maintain your dream.

Anyway great job, and keep up the good work!

should I try and do something that would match how I became lucid for future dreams? ya know... when something doesn't make sense?

I remember blacking out on my first LD..

Same as you, I blacked out right after trying to deliberately change the scenery. Might've been too hard on myself!

But it was exciting, wasn't it??

I had my 2nd LD last night, it was significantly better. Maintaining a quiet mind (waking and sleep) seems to be really important to maintain lucidity. Meaning that you stay calm.

Yes- Keep up with your dream journal so you can begin to recall the dream signs.

      first LD huh? congrats...

in an LD I had not too long ago I took a can of rootbeer and put it behind my back, then looked at it again and it was a different brand. I don't know why I did that. it was stupid.

      ANYWAY

I recommend that you work on staying in your LDs longer right now, then work on vividness. you should really set some goals. that way you're not all like "omg my second LD, wtf should I do? I know! fly!" *jumps* *gets two feet off the ground* *wake up*

I'm not saying you'd do that but yeah it would be better to have goals set. and whatever you do, do NOT close your eyes in your next several lucid dreams. it will most likely result with you waking up. one more thing, but you may already know this, everytime you wake up do a reality test. everytime.

well that's all I have for now. good luck.

Thanks for the advice.. but I'm not really that far yet, it was a fluke... as for my next step it will be obtaining lucidity, keeping it is still a little past me.

So far (and this includes the past "kinda" lucid dreams of only thoughts) I've only become lucid because I realized that something didn't quite feel right and when I look at things it just comes to me!

One specific thing I remember from something on the main site... mechanical/electrical devices always work how I expect them to, in fact, my dreams are fairly logical... either that or I just never remember the odd stuff!

it doesn't matter HOW you get lucid if you're dreaming and you know it's a dream then it's a lucid dream.

yeah it's like that for some people. I recommened using clocks and books for tests.

Icedawg just put that up there because his hello kitty "back massager" never seems to work while he is dreaming....

That's like a complete retelling of what happened to me once! Except for the waking up part. I just fell back into regular dreaming.

      Stupid overzealousness....
The best times of your life should not be when you're still so young, or else you'll live a life always dreaming of the past.
